Chapter 5
Chapter 5 — Three Years of Patience, One Day of Flipping the Cards
When leaving the apartment complex. A taxi was waiting downstairs. About thirty meters away. A black car is quietly parked on the side of the road. Exactly the same car that appeared the day before. I took a look in that direction. Dark car windows. Can't see anything inside. Then I opened the taxi door and sat in. Seven o'clock in the evening. The Co family's villa. Co Canh Tham was already waiting in the living room. He sat in the middle of the sofa. Legs crossed. One hand placed on the armrest. On the right is To Uyen Ninh. On the left is Tien My Hoa. The lawyer sat in a single chair opposite. The divorce agreement was placed neatly on the tea table. Three people faced me alone. Three against one. The moment I entered. The corners of To Uyen Ninh's lips immediately raised. She leaned close to Co Canh Tham, holding his arm. The pose is both coquettish and majestic.
“Already here?”
Co Canh Tham raised his chin slightly.
“Sit down.”
I don't sit. Just stand facing the tea table. Put your bag down next to you.
“I've seen the agreement.”
“But the conditions in it I do not accept.”
Tien My Hoa's face immediately darkened.
“What do you mean?”
“It's been three days and you still want more?”
“I don't need those three parts.”
Everyone was stunned. The first person to react was To Uyen Ninh. She laughed out loud.
“Don't need three parts?”
“Could it be that you want more?”
“I didn't take any money.”
The living room immediately fell silent. Exactly three seconds. Co Canh Tham slowly sat up straight. Hands clasped together on knees. For the first time since I walked in the door. He looked at me seriously.
“What did you just say?”
"All property division provisions in the agreement are deleted."
“The house is yours.”
“The car is yours.”
“The savings are yours.”
“I didn't take anything away.”
Tien My Hoa and To Uyen Ninh looked at each other. There was surprise in both of their eyes. The lawyer pushed up his glasses. Revise the agreement.
“Are you sure?”
“According to the law, you have the right to divide common property after marriage.”
“I'm sure.”
Co Canh Tham looked at me for a long time. Then slowly laughed.
“Nem Khanh.”
“I think it's good that it's clear.”
He stood up. Step in front of me. Looking down from above.
“I thought you were going to make a fuss.”
“It seems you are still reasonable.”
“But I have one condition.”
The smile on his lips faded a bit.
“You say it.”
“List of assets in the agreement.”
“I want to check again.”
“Test what?”
“All the assets belong to you, right?”
“I need to confirm whether the so-called ‘all’ are fully recorded in the list.”
“What if there was something left?”
“What if you come to me and cause trouble later?”
The lawyer nodded.
“This request is reasonable.”
Co Canh Tham hesitated for a second. But then I quickly thought clearly. Anyway, Tam Niem Khanh did not take anything. How about letting her check? He waved his hand.
“Tomorrow I will ask the lawyer to send you the entire list of assets.”
“If you have any questions, you have three days to raise them.”
“Signed three days later.”
I nodded. Pick up your bag. Turn around and walk towards the door. But as soon as I passed by To Uyen Ninh. She suddenly stretched out her legs. Intentionally blocking my way.
“Tham Niem Khanh.”
I bowed my head and looked at her crossed leg that was intentionally blocking her path.
“Don't think you'll leave white is noble.”
To Uyen Ninh's voice lowered. Just enough for the two of us to hear.
"You just don't have the courage to ask, so you pretend to be generous."
“Where can a poor person get his bones?”
“In the future, if you have to move out and sleep under the bridge, don't regret it.”
I didn't see her face. Just take a step back. Calmly avoid the leg blocking the way. Then open the door and go straight out. Get into the elevator. I took out my phone. Send a text message to an anonymous phone number.
“Receive the list of assets tomorrow.”
“Let's get started.”
The other person responded almost immediately. Just one word: During divorce negotiations. Co Canh Tham is no longer hiding it. To Uyen Ninh moved directly into the main bedroom of the Co family. And I was assigned to the third floor. A small room facing north. The window faces the outside wall of the building next door. Even during the day, sunlight is rarely seen. Wednesday morning. As soon as I walked out of the living room, I met To Uyen Ninh coming out of the main bedroom. She was wearing Co Canh Tham's shirt. Baggy. She deliberately stopped in the middle of the stairs. Stretch your shoulders for a long stretch. When I saw it, I burst out laughing.
“Oh, sorry, let me pass.”
When leaning out of the way. She even deliberately flipped her long, loose hair.
“Canh Tham's shirt is really big.”
“Extremely comfortable to wear.”
“You've worn his shirts before, right?”
She pretended to think.
“Ah that's not true.”
“Maybe your clothes don't fit.”
“Your shoulders are broader than mine.”
I passed her. Don't say a word. Go directly downstairs.
