Chapter 2
Chapter 2 — When I Left The Consultation, The Whole Hospital Was Panic
Some people pity me. Some people gloat. There are also people who are curious and want to see funny stories. Those looks made me more uncomfortable than the complaint itself. Not long after. Director Tran called me to his office. He used to be my guide. He is the person who single-handedly supported me from being an ordinary doctor to becoming the technical pillar of the Department of Surgery. But now. He sat behind a large desk, his expression heavy. At the tip of his finger was an unlit cigarette.
“You already know what Lady Trieu's background is.”
“Dean Vuong's side is under great pressure.”
He sighed. The voice carried the familiar fatigue and helplessness of those who had been in the system for too long.
“I know you feel wronged.”
“But sometimes in this profession... you can't be too rigid.”
“Go apologize to Lady Trieu, be a little softer.”
“This matter is over.”
I looked at the leader I once respected so much. Don't understand why. That face suddenly became so strange. Just because I maintain the professional ethics of a doctor, I have to bow my head and apologize?
“I'm not wrong.”
I replied coldly. Volume is not loud. But each word fell heavily. Director Tran frowned.
“Lin So Ha!”
“Don't be unreasonable!”
“Do you really think that the hospital is a place that only talks about reason?”
“There are times when face is more important than the truth!”
“Because of your ridiculous principles, if you offend someone who shouldn't be offended, what's the point?”
I laughed. The cold smile even made me feel strange.
“If even the doctor's principle of saving lives could be discussed…”
“So this hospital is not worth me continuing to stay.”
Chairman Tran was speechless. Maybe he didn't expect me to be this tough. He looked at me. Disappointment appeared in his eyes. Maybe even angry. He waved his hand. Tired says:
“You go home first.”
“Let me think of a solution.”
I don't say anything more. Quietly left the office. At that time I still thought that. The teacher who once guided me will find a way to protect me. Will come forward and explain to me. Will fight for me once. But I was wrong. Three days later. The official handling decision is issued. Text stamped in red. Announcement to the entire institute.
"After the verification process, the doctor at So Ha Department of Surgery showed a lack of service spirit during the process of welcoming VIP patients, inappropriate communication, causing serious dissatisfaction with patients, negatively affecting the hospital's reputation."
“Handling decisions are as follows:”
“Cancel Lam So Ha's eligibility for this year's Outstanding Surgical Doctor title.”
“Deduct all year-end performance bonuses worth 50,000 yuan.”
“At the same time, all rights to participate in consultations are suspended, pending further consideration in the near future.”
That's the money I exchanged for countless sleepless nights. Through one difficult surgery after another. By losing health day by day. Yet just because I refused an unreasonable request. It was taken away so easily. But what chills me the most is not that money. It's four words:
“Suspension of consultation.”
For a top surgeon. Consulting is my greatest value. This is where I tested the limits of medicine. It's a battlefield where I snatched patients' lives from the hands of death. But now. They took away that right. It's like taking away a warrior's weapon. Removing the claws of a beast. Turning me into a mediocre doctor who can only handle common cases. That moment. I felt like the faith I had patiently maintained for ten years had suddenly completely collapsed. The days of wearing a white blouse. Sleepless nights at the operating table. The times when I devoted my heart and soul to regaining the patient's life. And pride every time you save a life. Suddenly became ridiculous and strangely helpless. It turns out that before power and money, so-called medical ethics and principles... are not worth a penny. My heart is cold. Then numbness. No more outrage. No more discontent. There is also no hope left. I calmly opened the computer and drafted an application to withdraw from the consultation work. Then took that piece of paper and went straight to Principal Tran's office. Don't knock on the door. I directly pushed the door and walked in. He's on the phone. Seeing me, he was momentarily stunned. I put the application down on the desk and pushed it in front of him. On the paper there was only one line:
"I, Lam So Ha, voluntarily withdraw from all consultation work at the hospital."
Not lengthy. No explanation. No resentment. My voice was terrifyingly calm. Like a dead lake with no more ripples. And in my eyes... there is no longer the light and enthusiasm of the past.
“Sister Ha, what are you doing?”
“Do you want to fight with the hospital?”
Director Tran immediately stood up. The rare voice revealed a hint of impatience. I looked at him. Slowly shake your head.
“It's not fighting spirit.”
“It's disappointing.”
“I was completely disappointed.”
One by one the words fell. But it weighs like a thousand pounds. Director Tran looked at me for a long time. Lips moved slightly. Seems like he wants to say something. But in the end. He just sighed deeply. That sigh was filled with helplessness. Maybe he knows he owes me. Maybe you also know I'm not wrong. But he still chose to side with power and money. I didn't give him a chance to say more. Turn around and leave. The news that I voluntarily gave up my consultation work quickly spread throughout the Department of Surgery. Colleagues talked incessantly.
"Doctor Lam is really too tough. Just for 50,000 yuan, he ruined his future."
"What a pity. Those hands are the golden hands of the Surgery Department. In the future, our hospital is afraid we won't be able to find a second person who can perform difficult surgeries like her."
“Not knowing how to be flexible is like that.”
“Resisting money, opposing leadership, this result is worth it.”
“I brought it upon myself.”
