Chapter 1
Chapter 1 — After He Switched Brides On The Ceremony
Five minutes before the wedding begins. I saw another woman wearing her wedding dress. Holding my fiance's arm and walking through the flower gate. Everyone clapped. Only I quietly took off my veil. Throw the wedding ring into the lottery box.
"Ta Van Chau, this groom...
I don't need it anymore." In front of the banquet hall door is spread a white carpet, at the end of the carpet is a flower gate, the light from the crystal chandelier falls, making each white rose sparkle. I stood outside the door, my fingertips resting on the doorknob. The ritual expert stepped forward and lowered his voice to remind:
"Miss Dung, the ceremony is about to begin. It's time for you to enter the ceremony."
I didn't push the door. Applause rang out inside, at first only a few scattered sounds, then quickly turned into a round of applause. Through the crack in the door, I saw Ta Van Chau. He was wearing a black tuxedo, standing at the other end of the flower gate, holding a woman's hand. That woman is wearing my wedding dress. The skirt of the dress stretched over the white carpet, the waist was decorated with pearls chosen by me, and on the chest was a brooch left by my mother. She took Ta Van Chau's arm, bowed her head, then raised her eyes, her voice trembling.
"Van Chau, can you really go this part for her?"
Ta Van Chau squeezed her wrist and replied softly:
"Don't be afraid, it's just a game."
The best man stood next to him, smiling and holding up the microphone.
"Ladies and gentlemen, today's wedding has a special performance. The bride will randomly draw a secret box prepared by the groom. Whoever picks the Surrogate Bride Experience card will replace the bride and walk on the red carpet first."
The entire guest area immediately burst into laughter. People banged the table. People were shouting and cheering.
"General Manager Ta really knows how to play."
"I'm sure Dung Chi won't be angry. She understands things like that and will definitely cooperate."
"Isn't this a surprise for To Nghien? I heard that she and General Manager Ta grew up together."
I looked at To Nghien through the door. The wedding dress on her body was something I spent half a month running around three high-end tailor shops to choose. Ta Van Chau knows how much I value this dress. He also knows that because of today's wedding, I turned down a project abroad and personally followed every detail. The ritual specialist gently reminded:
"Miss Dung, if you don't come in, the ceremony will be interrupted."
I raised my hand to push the door open. Just when the music stopped. The eyes of everyone in the auditorium simultaneously turned to me. The smile on Ta Van Chau's face paused for a moment, then he walked towards me.
"Chi Chi, stop frowning, everyone is waiting for you."
To Nghien let go of his hand, took a step back, her eyes immediately turned red.
"Miss Dung, sorry, I just picked the secret box. I didn't know I would have to wear your wedding dress."
Her mouth said she didn't know, but her hand was on the hem of her dress, her fingertips gently caressing the brooch my mother left behind. Ta Van Chau immediately blocked in front of her.
"She didn't mean it, don't take your anger out on her."
I looked at him and asked:
"Who gave her permission to wear this wedding dress?"
Ta Van Chau frowned.
"It's just a dress. Today is the wedding, don't spoil the mood."
I asked again:
"Who gave her permission to wear this brooch?"
His expression immediately darkened.
"Dung Chi, I'm enough there. Nghien Nghien only walked part of the red carpet for me."
Someone below laughed.
"The bride is really difficult to appease."
"Men prepare a little surprise but they make a fuss, it's really not fun."
I listened to every sentence and word, slowly bowed my head and looked at my right hand. The ring on the ring finger reflected a cold ring of light under the light. This ring was worn by Ta Van Chau for me during my engagement ceremony. He once said:
"Chi Chi, all my life I only recognize you."
At that time, To Nghien stood under the stage, holding a glass of wine in her hand, without saying a word. I used to think that she just couldn't accept her friend getting married. Only now do I know that she is still waiting. Waiting for Ta Van Chau to save this wedding for her. Ta Van Chau extended his hand towards me.
"Come in, don't let the guests laugh."
I didn't put my hand out. I raised my hand to remove the veil, the hairpin loosened, the thin layer of veil slid off my shoulder, falling to the carpet. The entire banquet hall suddenly fell silent for a moment. Ta Van Chau's hand stopped in midair. I walked past him and took the secret box from the best man's hand. Inside is lined with red velvet, in the middle is a card. Surrogate Bride Experience Card. I took the wedding ring off my finger, put it in the box and closed the lid.
"If you've chosen the role of a substitute bride, then let her be the bride until the end."
Ta Van Chau's eyebrows frowned tightly.
"What do you mean?"
I turned around and walked out of the banquet hall. He chased after two steps, lowering his voice.
"Dung Chi, come back."
I stopped in front of the door, but didn't turn around.
"It's already dirty, I don't need it anymore."
