Chapter 7
Chapter 7 — After He Switched Brides On The Ceremony
I collected all the documents and put them in folders.
"Ta Van Chau, between us ends here."
Suddenly he reached out and held the clipboard tightly.
"What if I openly admit everything?"
"Admit what?"
"Admit that the performance of a substitute bride was arranged by you. Admit that Te Ngan is yours. Admit that you used my assets to make capital raising documents."
"That's what you were supposed to do."
"Can you give me one more chance?"
"Cannot."
His fingers tightened, causing the stack of papers underneath to wrinkle.
"In the end, what price do I have to pay before you accept it?"
"I don't need you to pay."
"So why don't you come back?"
"Because... I've turned around before."
He stood next to the desk, his face losing color little by little. There was a knock on the door outside. Chu Sam pushed the door open and walked in, placing a file in front of me.
"General Director Dung, To Nghien's design studio has just filed for bankruptcy. The Ta group is handling the debts."
Ta Van Chau suddenly turned his head.
"What did you say?"
Chu Sam looked at him.
"Miss To's factory yesterday transferred all debt to a company related to the Ta group. Today it officially filed for bankruptcy."
Ta Van Chau immediately took out his phone and made several calls in succession. No one picked up the phone. He stood frozen in place, his fingertips pressing hard on his forehead. A few seconds later, he raised his head to look at me.
"She didn't mean it."
"Even now, do you still want to help her?"
"She won't lie to you."
"Then go ahead and ask her."
He picked up the documents and turned around to walk out the door. Just as his hand touched the door handle, he suddenly stopped.
"Dung Chi... wait for me."
I don't answer. He turned his head to look at me. For the first time, there was no longer any command in those eyes. There are no more blames.
"I will handle everything well."
"It has nothing to do with me."
He bowed slightly, opened the door and quietly walked out. To Nghien lives in the apartment that Ta Van Chau bought for her. When Ta Van Chau arrived, there were two cars of a debt collection company parked in front of the door. To Nghien refused to open the door. He stood outside making more than ten phone calls, finally having to ask the building management to open the door for him. The living room is filled with cardboard boxes. Half of the formal clothes in the wardrobe were gone. Even the designer handbags placed on the table were gone. To Nghien walked out of the bedroom, her eyes red.
"Van Chau, why did you come?"
"What's the story about the design studio's debt?"
She bit her lip and didn't answer.
"I ask you, why did you transfer the debt to the Ta group?"
"I have no other choice."
"Who told you to do that?"
"No one."
"To Nghien."
Her shoulders trembled slightly and she unconsciously stepped back.
"Now... are you blaming me?"
"I'm asking you."
"I don't want that either. I just signed a few papers. The lawyer said it was just a temporary capital rotation, who would have thought it would turn out like this."
"Before signing, why didn't you tell me?"
"At that time, I was busy settling the wedding matter. I didn't want to bother you."
Ta Van Chau stared at her.
"About the wedding?"
To Nghien lowered her eyes.
"I know Ms. Dung doesn't like me, but I never really thought I would walk on the red carpet for her."
"It's me suggestion?"
"No."
"So who is it?"
She raised her head, tears rolling down her cheeks.
"I just said... if only I could wear a wedding dress once, it would be nice."
Ta Van Chau's face immediately changed.
"When did you say?"
"A long time ago."
"Since when?"
She didn't answer. A scene suddenly appeared in his mind the day before the wedding. That day he asked her what she wanted. Standing in front of the dress fitting room door, her fingertips gently stroked the wedding dress and said in a low voice:
"Perhaps I will never have such an opportunity in my entire life."
At that time, he didn't think much. He just sees her as lonely. Just felt like I should help her fulfill a wish. So he arranged a substitute bride performance. Order a custom outfit for her. Even took Dung Chi's mother's brooch out of the safe. He used to think it was compensation. It's to make up for the things To Nghien has never had over the years. He never thought... Dung Chi would also be waiting outside that door. To Nghien reached out to hold him.
"Van Chau, I really didn't mean it."
He dodges.
"Who told you to wear that brooch?"
Her arm stopped mid-air.
"You told me to wear it."
"I ask you, who reminded you that it was Dung Chi's mother's relic?"
To Nghien slowly withdrew her hand.
