Chapter 2 — After He Switched Brides On The Ceremony

The door closed behind me. Inside, the music sounded again, but the applause was no longer as steady as before. I walked down the steps, took off my high heels, and carried them in my hand. The driver got out of the car and took my suitcase.

"Miss Dung, are you returning to the Dung family now?"

I looked at the giant welcome sign placed in front of the wedding venue. Ta Van Chau and Dung Chi, got married today. I reached out and tore off my name on it.

"Not coming back."

"To the airport."

When the car left the manor, I didn't look back. The phone in his palm vibrated more than a dozen times, all on the screen were Ta Van Chau's calls. He called again. I continued to turn it off. The driver looked at me through the rearview mirror several times, didn't ask anything else, just quietly accelerated. This wedding has not yet been registered. Initially, Ta Van Chau and I planned to go to the Civil Affairs Department to complete the procedures after the ceremony ended, and the wedding ring, wedding dress, wedding banquet and all the blessings were just part of the ceremony. The moment he replaced me under the flower gate was also the moment he personally blocked the last path between the two of us. The phone rang again. This time it's a message from To Nghien.

"Miss Dung, Van Chau is very worried about you. He asked me to explain to you that today is just a game arranged by friends."

Right after that, she sent a photo. In the photo, she stands under the flower gate, a veil covering half of her face, Ta Van Chau stands next to her, his hand behind her waist. The caption has only one sentence.

"Sorry, I just completed the wedding on your behalf."

I looked at the photo for a few seconds, saved it, and forwarded it to the lawyer. The lawyer asked:

"Do we need to deal with it right away?"

"Temporarily retain and extract all cameras at the wedding scene and guest list."

I turned off the phone and leaned back in the chair. There was no crying in my chest, nor was there any feeling of heart-wrenching pain. Only the brooch on the wedding dress keeps appearing in my mind. Before she passed away, my mother gave it to me and said:

"This is a keepsake that my grandmother left me. If you get married in the future, put it on your wedding dress."

I never told Ta Van Chau that the brooch was more than just a piece of jewelry. Three years ago, my mother transferred all of her shares in Te Ngan Culture to my name, and also transferred ownership of the manor where this wedding was held. I just don't want Ta Van Chau to think that I chose him because of my family's assets. So I always keep it a secret. Even the manor where today's wedding was held is mine. Ta Van Chau always thought that this wedding was organized by the Ta family, and the guests also thought this was a private wedding party of the Ta family group. They didn't know that each bouquet of flowers under the wedding arch was purchased from the company in my name. Nor did I know that of the so-called service staff in the banquet hall tonight, half were waiting for my orders. I called the Operations Manager.

"Recover all propaganda items at the wedding scene."

The other end of the line paused a bit.

"General Director Dung, take it down now?"

"Right away."

"So what about the guests?"

"Inform them to cancel the wedding party, all expenses will be paid by Te Ngan, but the Ta family's bill will be paid by Te Ngan. separate."

When the car drove into the airport's priority lane, Ta Van Chau sent a voice message. His voice tried to contain his anger.

"Dung Chi, have you caused enough trouble? Come back now."

I open the next paragraph.

"Do you know how many people are waiting to see you two get married today?"

Third paragraph.

"Nien Nghien is crying, you should at least go back and apologize to her."

I converted all voice messages to text and sent them to the lawyer. The lawyer replied:

"Can be used as evidence, especially the last sentence."

I looked at that line, the corners of my lips curled up slightly. Ta Van Chau never asked why I left. What he cares about is that I made To Nghien cry. That's the person he really wants to marry. I pulled my suitcase out of the car and walked into the airport. The sole of his foot was torn by a small piece of high heel shoe, blood smeared on the shoe laces. But I never stopped walking. Before boarding the plane, Te Ngan's public relations manager called me.

"General Manager Dung, there is news online, a guest posted a video at the scene."

"No need to remove it."

"The Ta group said that she suddenly got angry and left."

"Release the full video."

"Including the part where To Nghien walks on the red carpet?"

Before the plane took off, the hot topic climbed straight to the front page. Ta Van Chau held a wedding with a substitute bride. I turned off the screen, took off the engagement ring on my hand, and put it in my bag. From today, the name Dung Chi will no longer stand next to the name Ta Van Chau. When the plane landed, it was already dawn. Te Ngan's legal team was waiting at the airport exit, the leader named Chu Sam was the lawyer my mother left behind. He gave me the documents.

"The video at the wedding scene has already been posted. In it, Ta Van Chau said three times that it was just a game."

"What about To Nghien?"

"This morning she posted a very long post, saying that she was only brought in as a temporary replacement, not knowing that the wedding dress and brooch were both hers."

I turned to the last page. At the end of the article there is only one sentence:

"If my appearance makes Ms. Dung sad, I am ready to leave."

Chu Sam asked:

"Do I need to speak up in response?"

"No need."

"She put herself in the position of the victim."

"Then just leave her standing there."

Chu Sam raised his head and looked at me.

"How do you plan to handle the Ta group?"

"The wedding venue belongs to Te Ngan, the wedding contract and supply chain are also signed by Te Ngan, the Ta family is only in charge of the guest list and ordering the costumes."

"Is it necessary to prosecute for breach of contract?"

"Just handle it according to the contract."

Chu Sam gave me another set of documents.

"There's one more thing. Three months ago, Ta Van Chau used his fiance's identity to submit a proof of assets to the bank, stating that in the future I would merge Te Ngan manor into the Ta group.

I turned to the signature page. There is no signature above. However, the document states that I agreed verbally. I laughed.

"Did he use my property to sponsor himself?"

"The bank has not disbursed the money yet, but the Ta group has used this set of documents to sign two cooperation contracts."
