Chapter 11
Chapter 11 — After He Switched Brides On The Ceremony
"That merger intention was built on false documents. Ownership of Te Ngan belongs to Dung Chi, not related to the Ta group."
Someone else asked:
"Does the incident of a substitute bride on the wedding day affect the cooperation between the two parties?"
His hand holding the pen stopped.
"The cooperation has ended."
"Was it unilaterally stopped by Ms. Dung, or was it suggested by the Ta group?"
"I tried to hold on."
"But she refused."
In the meeting room, soft sounds of discussion rang out. Someone turned to look at me. I said nothing. Ta Van Chau continued to bow his head to arrange documents, sweat forming on his temples. After the meeting ended, he called me back on the stairs.
"Dung Chi."
I stopped walking.
"Today... why did you come?"
"Te Ngan is a creditor."
"I know."
"Then you don't need to ask."
"I just want to know if you're doing well."
"I saw it."
"You look very good."
"I've always been fine."
He lowered his eyes.
"I already said this."
"I know."
"Is there anything else?"
He took out a contract from the folder.
"This is the entire remaining debt of To Nghien design studio. I took it all on myself, separate from the Ta group."
"Why do you have to show me?"
"I don't want you to think I'm still cleaning up the mess for her."
"You don't need to explain to me who cleans up for you."
"I know."
He put the contract back, his fingers still pressed against the clipboard.
"She left this city."
I didn't reply.
"She left her wedding dress that day for me."
"I haven't touched it yet."
"That's your stuff."
"Not."
He raised his head to look at me.
"That wedding dress was made according to your measurements."
"But I've never seen you wear it."
I looked at him.
"I'm wearing it."
"Outside the door."
His expression immediately changed.
"Did you see me?"
"Then why don't you come in?"
"Because I've already started."
His eyes turned red and his throat moved slightly twice.
"What if you stopped that day?"
"There are no ifs."
"What if you see me and immediately bring To Nghien down?"
"There are no ifs."
"What if you never arranged that game?"
"Ta Van Chau."
I interrupted him.
"Every 'if' I'm asking now is just a way for me to find a way for the past to help myself feel better."
He tightened his grip on the contract, his fingertips digging deep into each page.
"I just want to know...if I still have a chance."
"Not anymore."
"Don't you even want to consider it?"
"No need to consider."
He stood silently at the top of the stairs. Passersby constantly passed by us. Someone recognized him and talked in low voices.
"Isn't that Mr. Ta, the one who changed brides at the wedding?"
"That girl seems to be Te Ngan's boss."
Ta Van Chau heard it. His shoulders slowly dropped, and the contract in his hand also fell to the ground. He bent down to pick it up. The movement paused for two seconds. Then I picked up the document.
"I got it."
I turned around and walked downstairs. His voice was heard from behind.
"Dung Chi... did you ever truly love me?"
I don't turn around.
"Once loved."
He didn't say anything more. I walked downstairs and pushed the glass door open. Sunlight falls down the steps. After being restored, the break on the brooch still lies in the jewelry box. The silver crack appears clearly, not hidden at all. I also never intended to cover it up. 【Chapter 12】 Half a year later, Te Ngan organized a wedding exhibition open to the public. In the middle of the exhibition hall, a new flower gate was built, a white carpet stretched all the way to the entrance, and a few transparent lottery boxes were placed next to it. There is no wedding ring in the box. There is also no substitute bride card. There were only customized gifts, travel vouchers and a few greeting cards. Before opening time, a staff member ran to ask me.
"General Manager Dung, today there is a guest who wants to see you."
"Ta Van Chau."
I raised my head. He stood outside the exhibition hall and did not enter. Half a year has passed, his hair has been cut shorter, his face no longer has the cold look that makes others unable to refuse like before, and in his hand he only holds a bag of documents. I walked over.
"What's the matter?"
"I came to return an item."
He gave me the file bag. Inside was the wedding ring in the blind box that day. The ring has been cleaned, the engraving inside is still intact. Dung Chi, years together forever. I don't accept.
"Just leave it at the front desk."
"I want to give it to you myself."
"No need."
He placed the file bag on the table next to him.
"I've never let anyone touch it."
"After that day, it was always kept in the Ta group's safe."
"Why only bring it now?"
