Chapter 23
Chapter 23 — Eight Years Change One Time Letting Go
Han Mo Tuyet was at the reception desk checking the day's income and expenditure books, Nam Chi sat biting on melon seeds next to her. The wind chimes hanging on the door rang. She didn't raise her head: "Welcome to Mo Quy Homestay." There were no footsteps, no answer. She raised her head, her whole body immediately stiffened. It's Tham Bach Chu. He wasn't using an umbrella, his whole body was soaked. The man tried to save the last bit of dignity when he was sentenced in court. At this moment, his body was emaciated, his hair was messy and stuck to his scalp, and his clothes gave off an unpleasant sour smell. He looks ten years older. For counterfeiting and improper manipulation, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison, with the sentence suspended. At the same time, he had to pay a huge fine. He probably just ran away from some shabby boarding house.
“Mo Tuyet…”
He spoke hoarsely, the sound sounded like sandpaper rubbing on glass. Nam Chi suddenly stood up, the melon seed shells in her hand falling to the floor.
"Why is your comet coming again! Isn't it bad enough to say that you're harming us!"
Tham Bach Chu did not care about Nam Chi. He just stared at Han Mo Tuyet, his eye sockets full of blood vessels.
"Mo Tuyet, I really have nothing left..."
Suddenly he dropped to both knees.
"Thud" with a sound, kneeling on the slimy and muddy floor.
"The house has been liquidated by the court, and my mother is paralyzed. Every night I can't sleep. Every time I close my eyes, I see images of you cooking for me in the past."
He was like a beggar, dragging his knees towards her.
"Please, out of respect for the past 8 years. Just give me a bite to eat, I can work as a housekeeper here, I'll accept whatever you tell me to do."
She looked at the extremely humble man kneeling on the ground. There was not a single ray of joy in my heart.
“Tham Bach Chu.”
She walked around the reception desk, walked in front of him, looking down from above.
“Now that you say these words, don't you feel disgusted?”
"I don't feel disgusted! I really apologize!" He raised his head, tears and rain mixed together.
“I don't know.”
She calmly looked at him.
"You're only at the end of your rope, so you remember that the safest place to land was me. If you were still so high and mighty today, you wouldn't even bother to glance at me."
“That's not true…”
He shook his head. He reached out his muddy hand to grab her pant leg. A pair of feet wearing rugged black boots stomped hard on the wooden floor, right next to his hand. Giang Du Bach covered a black umbrella and walked in from outside the door. He conveniently retracted the umbrella, blocking it in front of her, coldly looking at Tham Bach Chu lying on the ground.
“Get out. Don't dirty my woman's territory.”
“Your woman?”
Hearing this sentence, Tham Bach Chu suddenly raised his head. He glared at Giang Du Bach. Then she turned to look at Han Mo Tuyet, the despair under her eyes was immediately replaced by distorted jealousy.
“Han Mo Tuyet... are you really with him?”
He staggered to his feet. Like a gambler with no money, red eyes roaring.
"How long has it been? How long has it been since you left me! And you're already in a hurry to find another man! Good things, honey." What was given to you before was all a lie, right?
She looked at his crazy appearance and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"Tham Bach Chu, do you think that the whole world has to stand still and wait for you?"
She took half a step back. Leaning on Giang Du Bach's shoulder, calmly received his eyes that seemed to want to devour him.
“Not only am I by his side, I'm also happier every day than I was in the 8 years I spent with him.”
“I don't believe it!”
