Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — Eight Years Change One Time Letting Go
"Tham Bach Chu, you enjoy the life of being cared for by Mo Tuyet as a nanny, while also being a guardian angel for Trinh Van Chieu on the outside. What do you consider Mo Tuyet to be? Free logistics for you?"
"I never thought about breaking up with Mo Tuyet..." His voice was hoarse.
“But she doesn't want you anymore.” Nam Chi coldly interrupted, "Don't look for her anymore. She's now living happier than the 8 years she's been with you combined."
The phone is disconnected. Tham Bach Chu held the phone tightly and stood in the middle of the empty living room. He suddenly remembered the morning of his departure, she calmly drank milk, watching him text Trinh Van Chieu. He remembered when he asked her what day next Wednesday was. He didn't even know it was their 8th anniversary. He walked into the office and opened the drawer she used to record his flight information. Inside there is a very thick notebook. He opened it. Each page has the flight number, take-off and landing time, and local weather marked with red and blue pens. Below is the menu of meals she prepared for him, along with the time he needed to take the medicine. Dense with words, filling all four notebooks. As for the last page, stop at one month ago. There was only one sentence written on it:
“Today he brought home a teddy bear keychain, saying it was a convenient buy. I saw the receipt, it had C.W.Z (Trinh Van Chieu) engraved on it.”
Tham Bach Chu lost all his strength and knelt to the ground, tears falling onto the window without warning. This was the first time he had truly faced these huge, cold numbers and facts. Not only did he ignore Han Mo Tuyet's sacrifice, he also personally trampled on her dignity. Outside the room door came the sound of the lock being unlocked. Trinh Van Chieu pulled a suitcase and walked in, still whining.
"Mr. Bach Chu, why didn't you say anything and went home first? I was alone at the airport carrying so much heavy luggage..."
She walked to the office door, saw Tham Bach Chu kneeling on the ground, and was stunned.
"Mr. Bach Chu, what's wrong with you? Is your sister-in-law still not home yet?"
Tham Bach Chu slowly raised his head, his eyes no longer had the usual gentleness, but instead were filled with extreme strangeness and disgust.
“Who let you in here?”
His voice was cold as ice. Trinh Van Chieu was startled, biting his lips a bit angrily.
"I have a spare key... Last time you gave it to me, telling me I could pick up the flight documents..."
“Put the key down.”
“Mr. Bach Chu…”
"I told you to put down the key! Get out!" Tham Bach Chu suddenly exploded and roared, like a cornered wild animal.
Trinh Van Chieu was scared back two steps by Tham Bach Chu's scream. She has never seen Tham Bach Chu look like this. Before, in front of her, he was always a gentle, polite and calm senior captain.
"Bach Chu, why are you venting your anger on me?"
Trinh Van Chieu's eyes immediately turned red, tears welling up at the corners of his eyes.
"Is it true that my sister-in-law argued with you about watching the aurora borealis? I told her to return her ticket, and you just took me away. Now that she's left home, what right do you have to vent your anger on me?"
Tham Bach Chu stared at her. Look at that self-pitying look At this extreme point of hers, he suddenly felt an indescribable nausea in his stomach. This is the girl he has kept in his heart and "taken care of" for the past 4 years. After Han Mo Tuyet left, her first reaction was not to feel guilty, but to quickly abandon the relationship, even robbing and screaming at the same time.
“You knew she left before, right?”
Tham Bach Chu stood up and gradually pressed closer to her.
