Chapter 30
Chapter 30 — Ex-Wife Reincarnated
“Stressed?” Tham Dinh Uyen's voice rang out from behind. He was holding Binh An, a dog wearing a tiny bow tie, with a reluctant look on his face.
“A little bit.” I turned around, "How did you get in here? Backstage doesn't let family members in."
“I invested in this exhibition.” He laughed, “There should be privileges.”
Binh An barked "Woof", jumped into my lap, rubbed my chin, as if to say: Don't be afraid.
“It comforts better than you.” Tham Dinh Uyen said.
“It's cuter than you.”
“I admit defeat.”
The curator is calling out: "Aria! 10 minutes left!" "Come here!" I checked my outfit one last time. White vest, neat short hair, standard red lipstick.
“How?” I asked Tham Dinh Uyen.
“Unbearably beautiful.” he said.
“Exaggeration.”
“True words.”
He walked over and adjusted my collar for me. "Remember," He looked into my eyes, "You are Aria. You deserve to be there." I nodded. “I'm out here.” "YES." He gently kissed my forehead. "Try your best." Exhibition podium. Bright lights. Music rang out. The first model is pushed out. I stood behind the curtain, my palms sweating. Tham Dinh Uyen sat in the first row under the stage, hugged Binh An, and gave me a thumbs up. I smiled, took a deep breath, then walked out. Applause. The applause echoed loudly like thunder. I went to the middle of the stage and bowed. Looking up, I saw Tham Dinh Uyen smiling, Binh An waving his claws, as if clapping along. My eyes heated up, trying to hold back. Get off the radio. Backstage erupted.
“Aria! Great success!”
“The press is waiting for interviews!”
“ArchDaily wants to schedule an exclusive interview!”
I answered a few words lightly, squeezed out, and went to find Tham Dinh Uyen. He was waiting for me in the hallway.
“Congratulations.” he said.
“Thank you.”
“If you want to cry, just cry.” He said, “Don't lose face.”
I shook my head. “Don't want to cry.”
“So what do you want?”
“Want…” I looked into his eyes, “Wanted to go home.”
He was stunned, then laughed. “Okay, go home.” Airport. VIP lounge. The TV is broadcasting the news. Chinese channel. The host is reading: "Thanh Tinh Technology today announced that General Director Luc Than Vu will resign, his cousin will take over. Luc Than Vu will settle abroad, focusing on treatment..." The image switched to a photo of Luc Than Vu, a lot thinner, his eyes calm, no resentment, only fatigue remained. I turned off the TV.
“It's over.” I said.
“Yes.” Tham Dinh Uyen held my hand, "Everything is over."
On the plane, I leaned my head on Tham Dinh Uyen's shoulder.
“Where are we going?”
“Go home.”
“Which house?”
“Wherever you are, that place is home.”
I burst out laughing. “Cheesy flirting.” “The words are sincere.” Binh An was sleeping soundly in the chair next to him, wheezing. The flight attendant came over. “Do you need a blanket?” “No need, thank you.” Tham Dinh Uyen carefully covered me with a blanket. “Go to sleep.” "Yes." I closed my eyes, falling into a dream. In the dream there are mountains, there is sunlight, there is me, there is Tham Dinh Uyen and even Binh An. Without Luc Than Vu, without Ly Hieu Vi, there is no suffering. There is only peace. Van Thanh. Home. I pushed the door open and stepped into the yard, then froze. The yard has completely changed. There is another flower greenhouse, filled with bright yellow sunflowers inside.
“Do you like it?” Tham Dinh Uyen asked.
“When do you do it? So?"
“While I was busy preparing for the exhibition.” He said, “Wanted to give you a pleasant surprise.”
I walked in, the scent of flowers was fragrant.
“Why sunflower?”
“Because it looks like you.” He said, “Always face the light.”
I turned around and hugged him. “Thank you.” “Thank you again.” “I can't help it.” He laughed. “Then say it a few more times.” “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” "Enough." In the evening, we sat outside in the yard, looking at the stars. Binh An ran around chasing fireflies.
“Tham Dinh Uyen.”
“Here I am.”
