Chapter 19
Chapter 19 — Late Love You
I deliberately ignored him, talked and laughed with Truong So Tran for a while before going to the bathroom. When I returned, there was someone waiting outside. Pho Canh Tham's long silhouette was cast on the wall, half of his face in darkness. I couldn't see his expression clearly, so I took a step back: "Why are you here?"
“When you got divorced, you said you wanted to start looking for a second spring.” Pho Canh Tham's voice was choked with bitterness, carrying a strange and surprising loneliness, "So, Truong So Tran is your second spring?"
“That has nothing to do with you.” A faint discomfort welled up in my heart, "We're divorced, you have no right to ask about my love life."
"Today I tried to work all day, I was so busy, I thought that by doing so I would forget you. But as soon as I got home, there was a picture of you in every corner." Pho Canh Tham held me tightly with his deep eyes, as if muttering to himself, with a bitter smile. "I never paid attention to what you did before. But since you left, your scent is everywhere in the house. I even hallucinate, thinking that every day after work, you are still waiting for me at the table with delicious food."
"It turns out I've liked you for a long time. Turns out... besides you, no one can. But why are we getting divorced?"
His voice became increasingly hoarse, and after speaking, his eyes turned red. I bit my lip, thinking that hearing these words wouldn't make any ripples, but when I regained my composure, I saw that my face was wet. Pho Canh Tham reached out to wipe my tears, his warm fingers gently brushing: "I misunderstood you before. I deserve to die, I'm miserable."
“Stop talking.” I choked up and pushed his hand away, "Pho Canh Tham, there are things that can't be turned back. You said you loved me, I believed it. But just when you had feelings for me, I decided to let go. There's no need to worry about who's right or wrong about the past, just keep it like this."
At this moment, I cannot describe the taste in my heart. Before, when I dreamed I hoped his eyes would stop on me, now he only looks at me, but I don't need him anymore. I took two steps and was about to turn the corner of the hallway when I suddenly heard Pho Canh Tham ask: "So what about friends? Can we be friends?"
“No th…”
"You open a company, in the future we will inevitably encounter each other. Thuong Thanh is so small, do you want us to always have to be awkward, making partners we know in the world also have to be careful?" Pho Canh Tham used reason to persuade.
I know you're taking one step back to take two steps forward, I know this is your delaying strategy, but I also have to admit that what you say makes sense. Like Truong So Tran's father today, from the moment he saw Pho Canh Tham come to the celebration party, he kept standing still, observing my reaction, afraid that because of my dissatisfaction, I would cut off cooperation, causing friction. I thought carefully, then nodded: "Okay." Pho Canh Tham finally breathed a sigh of relief and walked towards me: "Since we're friends, it's okay if I care about your love life, right? Are you and that guy Truong So Tran getting to know each other?" He lowered his head to look at me, his expression excited, completely different from his appearance when he first arrived. I had never seen him react like that. I was about to open my mouth when suddenly there was a hand on my shoulder.
“Yes, we are are getting to know each other.” Truong So Tran slightly raised his chin and looked provocatively at Pho Canh Tham. I know he wants to help me release my anger.
Pho Canh Tham's face immediately darkened, anger flared in his eyes, and he warned in a low voice: "You stay away from her."
“Am I telling you this correctly? You've betrayed her, and now you're still paranoid about wanting to go back. How can there be such a good thing in the world?"
