Chapter 4
Chapter 4 — My mother-in-law made a will to steal my property, leaving the whole family empty-handed
“Dear, help me replace the lock core, address Thien Duyet, building 12, apartment 801, do it quickly.”
The second call... I called 110 directly.
“Hello, I want to report to the police.”
“My home is being illegally occupied by someone else.”
“Address Thien Duyet, building 12, apartment 801.”
“I am the homeowner, all documents are complete.”
The police arrived very quickly. The locksmith also arrived almost at the same time. I briefly explained the situation, showed my identification documents and a photo of the red book on my phone. The police nodded and went up to knock on the door.
“Open the door, police check.”
The sound of the TV inside immediately turned off. A long while later... the door opened a small crack. Ly Vy stuck her head out. Seeing the police, her face immediately turned white. When he saw me standing behind... panic was evident in his eyes.
"Officer, this is my brother's house, this is my sister-in-law, it's just a misunderstanding..."
She stammered, trying to explain. I looked at her, my voice cold.
“Ly Vy, talk must have evidence.”
"You said this is my brother's house, so where is the red book? Take it out and see."
“And I... very soon will no longer be your sister-in-law.”
The police did not listen to one side.
“Please present your identification documents.”
“Also explain why you are in this house.”
“Who replaced this lock?”
Ly Vy was completely panicked. She hesitated, unable to say a word. In the end... there was only one way to ask for help. She trembled and took the phone and called Chu Cam. As soon as the phone connected, she burst into tears.
"Mom, come quickly! She's bringing the police to chase me out!"
The other end of the line immediately heard a shrill scream.
"How dare she! Wait, I'll be right there!"
I signaled the locksmith to start working. Under the witness of the police, Ly Vy did not dare to stop. The old lock core was quickly removed. New core installed. The mechanic gave me a new key. I took it... opened the door to my house. As soon as the door opened, a mixed smell of food and perfume hit my face. The living room is messy, snacks and clothes are thrown around. My house... was turned into a landfill. The fire in my heart... started to burn. About twenty minutes later. Chu Cam and Ly Hao rushed over. As soon as he saw me, Chu Cam went crazy and rushed forward to fight.
“Hua Tinh, you bastard, do you want to rebel!”
The police quickly stopped it.
"Calm down! Attacking someone on duty is a serious crime!"
Only then did Chu Cam stop, but still cursed non-stop. Ly Hao's face darkened, trying to suppress his anger.
“Hua Tinh, what do you want to do?”
“Is there any sense in making such a big deal?”
“Call the police, don't you feel embarrassed?”
I looked at him… then laughed.
“I think the most embarrassing person... is you guys.”
"Occupying someone else's house and still being honest and heroic."
I held up the new key.
“Now, I'll give you a word.”
“Clean up all the things that don't belong in this house.”
“An hour later, anything I've never seen before…”
“I will consider it trash and throw it all out the window.”
“Including… humans.”
As soon as my words fell... it was like a bomb thrown straight into the living room of apartment 801, exploding with no way out. The already tense atmosphere was torn apart in the blink of an eye to the point of suffocation. Chu Cam was the first to stand up, his high-pitched voice ringing shrilly.
"Hua Tinh, how dare you! Don't be so arrogant!"
“Eat from the Ly family, stay at their house Ly, now you have some courage to turn your face and not recognize people?
“I tell you, don't dream!”
Ly Vy hid behind her, crying and compiling, her tone full of fake injustice.
“Brother, look, she's really crazy!”
“She's planning to throw away all my things, all of them I just bought!”
She spoke without feeling guilty. Ly Hao's forehead showed blue veins, his eyes seemed to want to devour me. He walked step by step towards me, with an aura like an angry animal. The police next to him immediately became alert and spoke sternly.
“Calm down.”
But Ly Hao didn't pay any attention, in his eyes there was only me left. The look was both angry, oppressive, and trying to hold back.
“Hua Tinh, three years of marriage, is it nothing in your eyes?”
“Just because of such a small thing, do you want to make such a fuss?”
“Do you really want to go to this step?”
His voice was a mixture of questioning, threatening, and even a little pleading. He's trying to use emotions to tie me down. Using the word "family" awakens my feeling of guilt. Everything was too late. From the moment I saw that will, from the moment he said "it's no big deal"... My heart has died.
“Ly Hao, there is nothing more to say between us.”
I looked at him, my voice cold and calm.
“First, this is not a small matter, this is my limit.”
“Second, since the day I married you, I have never spent a penny from the Ly family.”
"The salary card your mother keeps, how much I earn and how much I spend each month, the bank has a clear record."
"Money for the mortgage payment, electricity and water bills, living expenses, even money for me to buy things for my sister... all come from there."
“So, don't say the phrase I eat at your house at your house again.”
“I feel… terrible.”
Every sentence I said was as clear as a sharp knife, tearing away the mask of lies of their entire family. Ly Hao turned pale, Chu Cam also remained silent. Maybe they never thought... I remember every detail so clearly. Never thought... I dare say it. I looked straight at Ly Hao, my eyes no longer hesitant.
“We… are finished.”
“I asked a lawyer, you will receive the divorce papers tomorrow at the latest.”
“This house is my pre-marital property.”
“The same goes for that car.”
I emphasize every word.
“It has nothing to do with you, and it has nothing to do with the Ly family.”
“As for common property after marriage…”
I smiled softly, a cold smile.
“It seems there is none.”
"The mortgage payment for this house is all paid by me. I will let the lawyer figure that out for you."
“Ly Hao, divorce.”
“You guys… get out of my world.”
Having finished speaking, I felt light all over. It was as if I had just taken off a heavy burden that had been on my shoulders for three years. The room fell into absolute silence. Ly Hao stood still, his eyes filled with disbelief. Maybe he never thought... I would proactively say divorce. It's also the decisive type, leaving no retreat like that. Chu Cam was also dumbfounded. There were so many attempts to turn everything that belonged to me into theirs... in the end I couldn't keep anything. Not only that... I also lost a "money-making machine" like me. It took a long time for Ly Hao to speak, hoarse.
“…Are you serious?”
I looked at him, nodded.
“I have never been more serious than I am now.”
I turned around and didn't look at them again. Just nodded slightly to the police.
“Thank you guys, this is a private matter, us will resolve itself.”
“If they still haven't left after an hour, I'll report them for trespassing.”
The police looked over, confirmed there was no risk of conflict, and then left. There were only four people left in the room. And a stuffy, suffocating atmosphere. I pulled out a chair and sat right in front of the door. I took out my phone and looked at the time. Then open the timer. Sixty minutes. Start the countdown. Tick…tick… The sound echoed in the quiet room. Like… the mourning bell for a long-dead marriage.
