Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — My mother-in-law made a will to steal my property, leaving the whole family empty-handed
I quickly said a few words to the group leader, then stood up and went down. Before I even got out of the elevator, I heard a familiar shrill cry.
“Oh my god, there is no more justice!”
“My daughter-in-law kicked our whole family out of the house!”
“Everyone, look and see if there is anyone as evil as him!”
The company lobby gathered quite a few people. Chu Cam sat down on the ground, beating her thighs and crying loudly, not saving face at all. Ly Hao stood next to her, his face tense, both embarrassed and frustrated. He wanted to pull her back but didn't dare. The security guard stood next to advise, but was completely powerless in front of someone who was intentionally causing trouble. When he saw me, Chu Cam's eyes immediately changed. From pretending to be pitiful... turned to resentment. She jumped up and rushed straight towards me.
"Hua Tinh! Unscrupulous!"
“Our Ly family has nothing wrong with you!”
“Eat from us, stay at our house, now you have the courage to come back and bite us!”
“Do you still know how to be shameless!”
She raised her hand to grab my hair. I took a step back, avoiding it neatly. I stood there, looking at her, looking at her face distorted from both anger and acting, looking at the man who used to be my husband standing still without saying a word. In my heart... there are no waves. Even found it funny.
“You talk so you have proof.”
My voice wasn't loud, but it rang out clearly in the noisy hall. All eyes immediately turned to me.
“She told me to eat at her house, stay at her house.”
“So do you dare take out the salary card I'm keeping here?”
“Let everyone see who has been taking care of that house for the past three years?”
Chu Cam's cry choked. Her face changed completely. Ly Hao bowed his head deeper. I don't stop. Step by step move towards her. Cold eyes looked down.
“She said I kicked her out of the house.”
“So do you dare tell everyone why you were fired?”
“Do you dare tell me what kind of will you made behind my back?”
Chu Cam's lips trembled, her eyes clearly showing panic. She didn't expect me to dare to say this in front of so many people.
“You… you're talking nonsense!”
“I don't know any will!”
I nodded.
“If you don't remember, I'll help you remember.”
I took out my phone. Open the photo of the will. Then turn the screen towards everyone.
“Everyone watch.”
“This is the will that my mother-in-law made.”
"It clearly states that my dowry house, my dowry car, are all left to her daughter."
“From beginning to end, my name was not there.”
“As if I were just a tool to bring wealth into their homes.”
I stopped for a beat. His eyes scanned the entire crowd.
“Let me ask a question.”
“If it were everyone, encountering this…”
“What will people do?”
My voice dropped. The whole lobby... was as quiet as paper. Everyone craned their necks to look at the phone screen in my hand. Their eyes were initially just curious to see what was going on, but quickly turned into surprise, indignation, and then turned into undisguised sympathy for me. In the crowd, whispers began to ring out, each word was like a knife cutting into the faces of the two people standing across from me.
"That's really too much, writing your daughter-in-law's pre-marital assets into your will?"
“What kind of mother-in-law is this, she really sucks blood!”
“What about that other husband, standing by and watching his mother oppress his wife without saying anything?”
“Divorce is right then, must divorce immediately!”
In just a few short minutes, the situation was completely reversed, Chu Cam and Ly Hao went from rioters... to the center of criticism. The looks of contempt and condemnation poured towards them, seemingly nailing them to the spot, with no way to escape. Chu Cam's face turned red like a pig's liver. She wanted to refute but couldn't utter a word, because before her eyes was clear, irrefutable evidence. Everything she used to be confident in, used to rely on to be defiant... now becomes meaningless. Ly Hao was even more pitiful, his face was as white as paper, clearly feeling every look from my colleague, both contempt and pity. At that moment, he was like a man whose skin had been stripped away, naked and pitiful. Before now, he always thought this was just a "household matter", when he closed the door, he could do whatever he wanted, no one would know. He never imagined… I would drag everything into the light in such a straightforward way. Bringing all their ugliness, greed and weakness... exposed to everyone. He looked at me, his eyes filled with resentment, but also mixed with pleading. He wanted me to stop. Want me to save the last bit of face for them. But… why should I do that? From the moment they came to my company to cause trouble, they threw away all their dignity. At the same time... throwing away the last respect I had for them. I put my phone away, my cold eyes glanced at the two of them.
