Chapter 3
Chapter 3 — Pregnant for 280 Days, I Used a Notebook to Reclaim My Whole Life
"Giang Tri Dao, are you in the money's eye now?"
I sat down and used chopsticks to remove each noodle.
"It's not like I got into the money eye."
"But you forced me to calculate every penny."
He stared at me.
"I hate the most when women get pregnant and threaten them with their children."
I raised my eyes.
"Then you better remember."
"This child also has the last name Co."
Like being poked in a sore spot. He suddenly spoke loudly:
"Don't always bring up your last name!"
The baby in her stomach suddenly kicked hard. I was in so much pain that I took a deep breath and quickly put my hands on my stomach. Co Thua Trach still stood in place. His eyes wavered slightly. He never stepped forward. Just coldly said:
"Be less agitated, it's not good for the child."
I bowed my head and laughed.
"So you also know that this is not good for you."
He didn't say another word. In the end, it still lay cold on the table. I couldn't eat a single bite. I turned on the computer. Rearrange the entire document again. Chat history is categorized by month. Expenditure documents are classified according to each purpose. Photos of bank card balances are saved separately in a folder. Even transaction notification messages from some of Co Thua Trach's commonly used cards. What I still see. I took all the pictures. Branded watches. High-class headquarters. Gifts for colleagues. Every expense. All are much more decisive than my prenatal checkup. Two o'clock in the morning. The phone screen suddenly lit up. It's a text message from an unknown number. The content has only one sentence.
"Mrs. Co, your husband got drunk at Kim Duyet Headquarters tonight. Do I need to take him home?"
I stared at that message. Sleepiness. Completely disappeared. Right after that message. The phone shows another photo. The photo is not too clear. But it was still enough for me to recognize Co Thua Trach's profile. He sat in a private room with dim lights. Shirt collar extended. Next to him was a woman in a red dress leaning close to him. Her hand rested loosely on his shoulder. The smile was almost ambiguous. I didn't call immediately. Just quietly save the photo. Then take a screenshot of the phone number sent to you. I put the phone down on the table. Calmly drink a glass of warm water. The baby in the womb turned slightly. I gently stroked my belly, lowering my voice.
"Honey, I won't argue."
It's not like I've never seen such scenes. Co Thua Trach had many social meetings. There are also many alcohol parties. In his circle, there are always several beautiful young girls around. It seems like a very normal thing. Before getting married. I once asked him:
"Can you keep your distance from those people?"
He grabbed my hand. Smiling said:
"I know moderation."
After marriage. I asked again. He just replied:
"Don't be suspicious."
Until you get pregnant. I don't ask anymore. Because I understand. The answer was never on his lips. It's in what he does. Ten minutes later. The strange phone number sent another message.
"If you don't answer, I'll assume you agree."
I only left three words.
"Troublesome."
Maybe the other person didn't expect me to be so calm. A long time later. Just texted back.
"Aren't you angry?"
I looked at the screen. Smiling softly. Then answer her ta.
"I'm pregnant, it's not appropriate to be angry."
Message just sent. There was no movement on the other end. Three o'clock in the morning. The door lock rang open. I sat under the living room light. He was only wearing a thin shirt. Co Thua Trach was helped by the driver. His whole body reeked of alcohol. Just saw me. He stopped. Then frowned.
"It's midnight and I haven't slept yet, what are you doing sitting here?"
I looked over at the driver.
"It's been hard for you."
The driver nodded sheepishly. After helping Co Thua Trach down, he left. The door closed. Co Thua Trach staggered and sat down on the sofa.
"Pour me a glass of water."
I didn't move. He raised his head to look at me.
"Giang Tri Dao, didn't you hear?"
I pushed the phone towards the tea table. The screen stopped exactly at the other photo. Co Thua Trach squinted his eyes for a few seconds. His face immediately changed.
"Who sent it to you?"
"Is that important?"
He grabbed the phone and looked at the number sent. The voice was full of anger.
"You investigate me?"
I almost burst out laughing.
"The photo was sent to me by someone else."
"I didn't take the picture."
He threw the phone back on the coffee table.
"It's just a courtesy, don't think too much."
"Do we need to sit so close to socialize?"
He replied:
"The private room has that much space."
"Her hand was on your shoulder, because the private room was too small?"
Co Thua Trach angrily rubbed his eyebrows.
"I'm drunk, I don't remember clearly."
I nodded.
"It's okay if you don't remember."
"I remember okay."
He stared at me. The smell of alcohol made his eyes turn red.
"What do you want now?"
"Divorce?"
The words "divorce" just left his mouth. The living room suddenly fell silent. I don't follow his feelings. Just calmly ask:
"If you say you want a divorce."
"Will you agree?"
Co Thua Trach burst out laughing. Like I just heard something funny.
"I'm pregnant."
"If I get divorced, where will I go?"
I looked straight into his eyes.
"So you think I don't dare?"
He leaned back on the sofa.
"Giang Tri Dao, be a little more realistic."
"I don't have a job."
"Pregnant again."
"When my child is born, I can't leave you even more."
"If you really make a fuss."
"The only person who suffers is me."
Every sentence he says. The last bit of warmth in my heart has diminished a bit. Until then. I truly understand. It's not that he doesn't know I'm difficult. But because I understand my situation so well. That's why you dare treat me like that. I stood up. The heavy stomach makes the waist ache.
"Go take a shower."
"Don't let the smell of alcohol haunt me."
Co Thua Trach was stunned. Maybe he thought. I will cry. Will make noise. Will picked up the photo and threw it right in his face. But I just held the phone back. Then turned around and walked into the bedroom. Before the door closed. I heard him cursing softly outside the living room.
"What a nerve."
