Chapter 16
Chapter 16 — Reborn to Love the Perfect One
After the night of collusion between Bách Nam and Kiều Ý Nhi, the two began looking for an ally with enough power and position in the company to support their big revenge plan. Their eyes quickly stopped at Tưởng Bảo Long, vice chairman of the board of directors, who had publicly supported Bách Nam in the previous proposal to grant autonomy in share management.
One evening, Bách Nam arranged to meet Tưởng Bảo Long at a private restaurant, where there was no risk of being seen by acquaintances. "Uncle Bảo Long, I know you are also not satisfied with the way Ms. Ánh Vy is taking more and more control in the company, especially after she continuously introduced supervision mechanisms that narrowed the power of board members."
Tưởng Bảo Long took a sip of wine, his eyes searching. "If you want to say something, say it directly. I don't like beating around the bush."
"I would like to propose a cooperation," Bách Nam replied, his tone careful. "If Ms. Ánh Vy loses prestige, power in the company will be redistributed. I believe, with your position, along with the support of me and a few other partners, you can completely rise to hold the highest leadership position, instead of just being a vice president under the direction of the Ve family."
Tưởng Bảo Long's eyes flashed with a light of ambition that he had always tried to hide throughout his years working under Vệ Thành Lâm. "Do you have any specific plans?"
"We have discovered a shocking truth," Kiều Ý Nhi, sitting next to Bách Nam, spoke up, her tone full of confidence. "The employee named Dịch Phong in the Strategy Department is actually the son of Bạchấn Vũ, the heir of Bạch Dương Group. He has been hiding his identity to sneak into Vệ Thịnh for the past three years."
This information made Tưởng Bảo Long stunned for a moment. "If so, this is indeed a serious problem related to the company's information security."
"Exactly," Kiều Ý Nhi continued, the smile on her lips full of calculation. "We can make up the story that Bạch Dương installed someone in Vệ Thịnh for the purpose of gathering internal information, preparing for a hostile takeover. And Ms. Ánh Vy, who has been secretly close to him all this time, is either an accomplice, or has been naively taken advantage of. Either way, her reputation will be completely destroyed in front of all shareholders and the media."
"We will need more convincing evidence than last time," Tưởng Bảo Long said, his tone gradually getting caught up in the conspiracy. "Last time, with just a few poorly forged documents, we failed miserably."
"This time will be different," Bách Nam replied, his eyes shining with determination. "I will take advantage of my position in the company to collect more evidence about the relationship between Ms. Ánh Vy and Dịch Phong, along with work emails and text messages that can be interpreted in an unfavorable way. Combined with authentic information about his true identity, we will have a story convincing enough to knock them both out at the same time."
"As for the evidence confirming Dịch Phong's identity, let me worry," Kiều Ý Nhi said. "I have an acquaintance who works in investigative journalism and can help verify and collect more official documents about the family background of Bạchấn Vũ and his son." Tưởng Bảo Long nodded and raised his glass of wine. "Okay, I will participate. But this time, everything must be done very discreetly, without revealing any loopholes like last time. I will use my influence to ensure that the upcoming annual general meeting of shareholders will have all the most important ingredients, creating maximum pressure on both of them."
The three people raised their glasses, a calculating and dangerous alliance was officially established, with the common goal of completely dethroning Ánh Vy and Dịch Phong right at the company's most important event of the year.
In the following weeks, the three silently coordinated their actions. Tưởng Bảo Long used his authority to secretly collect more internal information, deliberately created situations that forced Ánh Vy and Dịch Phong to work together more, then secretly recorded their images and conversations to change them in a direction favorable to the plot. Bách Nam took advantage of the remaining trust of a few former colleagues to probe for more information, while Kiều Ý Nhi focused on verifying and consolidating evidence of Dịch Phong's true identity.
Unaware of the scale of the conspiracy that was silently forming, Ánh Vy and Dịch Phong continued their daily work, even though they both felt a vague insecurity hovering somewhere in the company's atmosphere, like a storm silently accumulating before arriving.
One afternoon, Gia Hạnh hurriedly came to Ánh Vy's office, her face clearly showing concern. "Ánh Vy, I just saw Uncle Tưởng Bảo Long secretly chatting with a strange woman at the coffee shop opposite the company. Looking at the way they exchanged documents and their wary eyes looking around, I have a feeling something is not right."
"Do you recognize that woman?" Ánh Vy asked, her heart tightening because of a premonition of insecurity.
"I took some pictures from afar, let me send them to you." Gia Hạnh took out her phone, and when Ánh Vy looked at the screen, she immediately recognized the familiar face of Kiều Ý Nhi in the photo, sitting opposite Tưởng Bảo Long with a stack of documents on the table.
"Just as I feared," Ánh Vy said, her tone was low. "Tưởng Bảo Long has joined hands with Kiều Ý Nhi. Perhaps Bách Nam is also in this alliance. They are preparing something much bigger than before." Immediately, she called Dịch Phong to discuss. After hearing Ánh Vy recount the information from Gia Hạnh, his face became unusually serious.
"If Chiang Bảo Long participates, they will have access to more sensitive internal information, including closed board meetings." Dịch Phong analyzed, his tone sharp. "And with Kiều Ý Nhi now knowing my true identity, I'm afraid that their goal this time is not just to take her down, but is also aimed directly at me."
"We need to act now," Ánh Vy said, her eyes determined. "I think it's time for us to proactively collect evidence of collusion between the three of them, instead of just waiting for them to act first."
"I agree." Dịch Phong nodded. "I will contact a few trusted relationships to verify Tưởng Bảo Long's recent unusual financial transactions, possibly finding clues about what benefits he received to side with Bách Nam and Kiều Ý Nhi."
Ánh Vy looked at him, filled with determination. She knew that the upcoming battle would be more fierce than anything she had ever experienced, even in her previous life, but this time, she was not alone, and that gave her the courage to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
That night, Ánh Vy went to her father's office and told everything she and Gia Hạnh had discovered. Vệ Thành Lâm listened with an increasingly serious face.
"If Tưởng Bảo Long really betrayed the trust of the entire board of directors, this is an extremely serious matter," he said, his voice low with suppressed anger. "He has been with me since the early days of building the company. I never thought that one day he would betray me like that."
"I'm also very surprised, dad," Ánh Vy replied. "But I think, we should not act hastily now. If we openly suspect when there is not enough evidence, they will be even more careful and try to erase the traces. I suggest that we should quietly monitor, collect all the evidence, and then choose the right time to reveal the whole truth to everyone."
"You're right." Vệ Thành Lâm nodded, his eyes shining with pride and concern for his daughter. "But you have to be careful, don't let yourself fall into danger. I don't want to lose you for any reason."
"I'll be careful, dad," Ánh Vy replied, holding her father's hand tightly. "I promise, this time I won't let anyone have the opportunity to hurt my family or the company you worked so hard to build."
Leaving her father's office, Ánh Vy stood silently in the dark hallway, her eyes looking out the large glass window where the city lights sparkled in the distance. She knows that there will not be many peaceful days left, and she needs to prepare herself mentally for the upcoming decisive battle, a battle that she must win, not only for herself, but also for everyone she loves.
