Chapter 22
Chapter 22 — Reborn to Love the Perfect One
A month after all the events calmed down, Ánh Vy decided to visit her mother's grave, something she often did when she needed to find a strong spiritual support. The cemetery is located on a quiet hill on the outskirts of the city, surrounded by green pine trees whispering in the wind.
She placed a bouquet of white orchids, her mother's favorite flower when she was alive, on the grave engraved with the name Đỗ Khánh Hoa, then sat down next to it, remaining silent for a long time before speaking.
"Mom, I did it," she spoke, her tone was gentle as if she were talking to a close friend. "I have learned to love more moderately, no longer letting my kindness become a tool for others to take advantage of. I think, this is exactly what you wanted me to understand, right mom?"
The wind blew gently through the pine trees, creating a rustling sound like a gentle response. Ánh Vy smiled slightly, feeling a deep connection with her mother that she never had enough time to truly understand when she was alive.
"I've also found someone who truly loves me, Mom," she continued, her eyes softening when mentioning Dịch Phong. "His name is Dịch Phong, a steadfast, kind person, and always by my side in the most difficult times. I think, Mom will definitely love him."
She sat there for a while longer, letting her mind completely calm down, reviewing the entire arduous journey she had gone through since the day she was reborn. From the obsession of a cruel death in her previous life, to the endless struggle to change her destiny, and finally the complete victory over those who betrayed her. Every step, every decision, led her to the right place she needed to go.
On the way back, she stopped by to visit Chu Văn Đạt, who has now moved to a lighter position in the company according to his own wishes, no longer directly working as a driver but taking on the management of the entire group's vehicle fleet.
"Miss Ánh Vy, I didn't expect you to visit me." Chu Văn Đạt happily greeted him, his appearance much more relaxed than the previous turbulent days.
"I just stopped by to visit you," Ánh Vy replied, smiling friendly. "How are you these days? Is your new job okay?"
"I'm fine, thank you for always caring," he replied, his tone sincere. "The new job is also lighter and more suitable for my age. I'm really grateful to you for giving me a chance to continue being attached to your family, even after all that has happened."
"You don't need to thank me," Ánh Vy replied, her tone gentle. "You have devoted yourself to serving my family for many years. That is something that deserves to be respected. It has nothing to do with Bách Nam's wrong choices," Chatting for a while longer, Ánh Vy said goodbye, feeling much more relieved after that meeting. She realized that letting go of resentment does not mean forgetting past hurts, but rather learning to look at things more tolerantly and fairly, so that she can truly move on without being bound by the past.
That night, when Dịch Phong came to pick her up for dinner, Ánh Vy told him about her visit to her mother's grave and her meeting with Uncle Dat. He listened attentively, his eyes full of understanding and respect.
"I think, she has truly found the peace she deserves," he said, gently holding her hand as they walked along the windy riverbank, the city lights shimmering on the water.
"I think so, too," Ánh Vy replied, looking up at him, her eyes filled with peace. "This feeling is so different from what I experienced in my previous life. There is no more resentment, no more obsession, only serenity and faith in good things ahead."
"Then, let's build more good things together in the future," Dịch Phong said in a warm tone, squeezing her hand tighter. "I believe, with what you have experienced and learned, you will become a talented and compassionate leader, worthy of the trust of everyone around you." Ánh Vy smiled, resting her head lightly on his shoulder as the two continued to walk under the gentle moonlight, her heart filled with a feeling of complete peace that she had to go through two lifetimes to find.
That weekend, Ánh Vy spent an evening sitting with her father in the familiar reading room, where father and son had countless important conversations over the past time. Vệ Thành Lâm poured his daughter a cup of warm tea, his eyes looking at her affectionately.
"I've noticed that you're different these days compared to before, Ánh Vy," he said, his tone was warm. "Not only carefulness and bravery in work, but also a calmness, a peace that I have never had before, even before everything with Bách Nam happened."
"Maybe I've learned to accept and let go, dad," Ánh Vy replied, taking a sip of warm tea. "I realized that true happiness does not come from trying to control everything around you, or from giving without keeping any boundaries for yourself. Happiness comes from balance, from knowing how to love the right people, in the right way, and knowing how to appreciate what you have."
"You saying these words makes me really proud," Vệ Thành Lâm spoke with a rare emotional tone. "I believe, your mother in heaven will also be very happy and proud of you."
"I believe so too, dad," Ánh Vy replied, smiling, her eyes shining with a deep belief in the good things waiting ahead. She knew that she had officially closed the darkest chapter of her life, to open a new chapter, brighter and full of hope than ever.
A few days later, Gia Hạnh invited Ánh Vy to go for a walk on the street on a rare free weekend afternoon. The two sat down at a small roadside tea shop, a place they had often visited since they were university students.
"You know, looking at you now, I can clearly see how much you've changed compared to a few months ago," Gia Hạnh said, taking a sip of fragrant lotus tea. "In the past, you were always worried and devoted all your energy to Bách Nam, forgetting how much you needed to be loved. Now, I see you are much more radiant and confident."
"I think, it's because I learned to love myself first, then I can love others properly," Ánh Vy replied, smiling and looking out at the bustling street outside the glass window. "In the past, I always thought that the more you give, the more sincere your feelings will be. But now I understand that true love requires mutual respect and clear boundaries to be sustainable in the long run."
"You're so right." Gia Hạnh nodded in agreement, her eyes full of admiration for her close friend. "I believe, with the lessons you have learned, you and Mr. Dịch Phong will definitely have a truly happy and sustainable future." Ánh Vy smiled and nodded, her heart filled with faith in the good things that lie ahead, not only for herself, but also for all the people she loves around her.
That night, before falling asleep, Ánh Vy took out her familiar leather-bound notebook and flipped to the last blank page. She picked up a pen and wrote down a few short lines: "In my previous life, I died because I gave away without knowing how to keep it for myself. In this life, I live because I learned how to love with limits, be alert, and have the necessary self-respect. From today, each new page of my life will be written by my own hands, no longer determined by fate or blind kindness."
Closing the notebook, she placed it on the nightstand, turned off the light, and fell into a deep and peaceful sleep, no longer haunted by nightmares about death like the first days of her rebirth. It is a sleep of true peace, of a heart that has learned how to heal itself and rise up after the deepest hurts, ready to welcome all the good things that this new life awaits ahead, without any entanglements from the ghosts of the painful past.
The next morning, when the first rays of sunlight filtered through the bedroom window, Ánh Vy woke up with a strange feeling of relief, different from the constant heaviness that had followed her for many months since the day of her rebirth. She sat up, walked to the window, and took a deep breath of the fresh morning air. The villa garden below was still as green as ever, but it seemed that under her eyes right now, everything took on a much brighter and more vibrant tone, as if her very soul had been fully revived with the second chance that fate had bestowed upon her.
