Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Reborn to Love the Perfect One
One month later, Vệ Thịnh Group faced a small but worrying crisis: an important strategic partner in the construction sector suddenly announced its withdrawal from the cooperation contract for the Eastern urban area project, citing concerns about unclear capital disbursement progress. This news put the company's leadership in a state of confusion, because this project accounts for a large part of the year's revenue growth plan.
Ánh Vy was summoned to an emergency meeting with her father and relevant department heads. In the tense atmosphere of the meeting room, she noticed Bách Nam sitting unusually silent, his face pale, his hands clasped together under the table.
"We need to find out the real reason why partners lose trust," Vệ Thành Lâm spoke up, his tone serious. "If not resolved promptly, not only this project but also the reputation of the entire corporation in the market will be seriously affected."
The meeting lasted nearly two hours but a satisfactory solution was still not found. The department heads proposed many different plans, but they all lacked feasibility or required too long a time to implement, while the partners only gave the company three days to make a new commitment that was convincing enough.
As soon as the meeting showed signs of deadlock, the meeting room door opened, an assistant walked in and quietly said something to Vệ Thành Lâm's secretary. A few minutes later, a set of documents was delivered to the chairman, with a message that this was an analysis and proposed solution sent by the Business Strategy department, specifically compiled by Bạch Dịch Phong.
Vệ Thành Lâm opened the document, his eyebrows gradually relaxed as he skimmed through each page. "This is a very detailed and sharp analysis. This person proposed that we restructure the capital disbursement roadmap in small stages, associated with specific acceptance milestones, and invite an independent audit unit to participate in supervision to increase transparency. This is exactly what partners need to regain trust."
The whole meeting room was buzzing about this unexpected proposal. Ánh Vy sat quietly, a feeling of pride and indescribable emotion arose in her heart. She knew clearly that this was not the first time Dịch Phong had silently stood behind the company's difficult problems. In his previous life, he probably did the same things countless times, but she never paid attention to it, never gave him a worthy thank you.
"Who compiled this proposal? Please invite that person to present directly to the council." Vệ Thành Lâm ordered, his tone filled with rare excitement.
Ten minutes later, Bạch Dịch Phong walked into the meeting room, looking calm as usual, not showing any signs of worry or confusion in the presence of the entire top management of the company. He presented the proposal coherently and logically, fluently answering all the difficult questions posed by the department heads, demonstrating a profound strategic vision far beyond his age and current position.
Ánh Vy observed him from beginning to end, secretly amazed at the confidence and bravery he showed. This is clearly not the ability of a normal employee who has only been in the job for a few years. The way he analyzes the market, the way he predicts partner psychology, all show a thorough training foundation and remarkable real-life experience, things that usually only people who have been trained in a top business environment since childhood can possess.
After the meeting, when everyone had left the room one by one, Ánh Vy deliberately stayed behind, looking for an opportunity to talk privately with Dịch Phong.
"Mr. Dịch Phong, your proposal is truly excellent. Where did you learn this knowledge?" She asked, her eyes filled with sincere curiosity.
Dịch Phong smiled slightly, a gentle but somewhat reserved smile. "I just read a lot of documents and observed the market, ma'am. Nothing special."
"I don't think so." Ánh Vy shook her head, her tone sincere. "The way you analyzed it made me feel like I was talking to someone with many years of senior management experience, not a regular Strategy department employee."
There was a short moment of silence between the two, Dịch Phong's eyes flickered with confusion, as if considering whether to reveal anything more or not. In the end, he just responded with a safe answer. "You're too complimentary. I'm just trying to do my job well."
Ánh Vy looked at him, clearly realizing the defensiveness in that answer, but she didn't feel uncomfortable at all. On the contrary, she felt a certain respect for him still persistently keeping his identity a secret, even though the reason behind it was still a mystery to her.
"Well then, I hope the company will soon recognize and properly utilize your abilities," she said, her tone sincere. "If there are any important projects that require your advice in the near future, please do not hesitate to speak up."
"I will remember what you said," Dịch Phong replied, this time his eyes looked straight at her, carrying a warmth that he had never shown before. "And I also hope you can always maintain your sanity like today, Miss Ánh Vy. In this business environment, not everyone is worthy of the trust you place in them."
That sentence made Ánh Vy pause for a moment. It wasn't just simple social advice, but seemed to contain a deeper concern, as if he was secretly warning her about something he'd seen but hadn't yet said outright.
"Thank you for the reminder," she replied, her eyes looking at him meaningfully. "I'm also trying to learn to distinguish more clearly between kindness and bigotry."
Leaving the meeting room, Ánh Vy walked down the company hallway with a complicated mood. She knew that Dịch Phong was not simply a talented employee who was quietly contributing. He seemed to have been observing her, observing the dangers around her, in a way that she could not yet fully understand. And that, instead of making her worry, gave her a strange sense of peace, as if this time, she no longer had to face it all alone.
That evening, when everyone in the company had left, Ánh Vy still stayed in the office to complete a few unfinished tasks. When she walked down to the parking area in the basement, the hallway was quiet with only a few neon lights shining on the cold concrete floor.
Suddenly, a motorbike sped in the wrong lane and turned a blind corner right in front of her. In a split second, a hand from behind gently pulled her shoulder back, narrowly avoiding collision.
"Are you okay?" A familiar warm voice rang in my ears. Ánh Vy turned around and realized that the person who had pulled her out of harm's way was Dịch Phong, perhaps just coming down from the office to pick up her car after work.
"I'm fine, thank you for your time," she replied, her heart was still beating fast, but that was mostly because of his timely appearance again, not necessarily because of the shock just now. "I didn't expect you to stay at work so late."
"I have some figures that need to be completed quickly," Dịch Phong replied, his eyes still glued to her as if to make sure she was unharmed. "The basement area is quite deserted at night, you should be more careful when going alone at this time."
"I will remember what you said." She smiled slightly, thinking to herself, this is the second time since she started paying attention, Dịch Phong appeared right at the moment she needed it the most, even if it was just a seemingly small coincidence. Perhaps, it was not simply a coincidence, but a habit of silently watching that he had maintained for a long time, but she had never been subtle enough to notice it before.
"Let me take you to the car, in case something else happens," he suggested, his tone still maintaining its usual calmness but containing an undisguised concern. On that short journey, the two of them did not say much, but the silence was not awkward at all, but on the contrary brought a strange feeling of peace of mind that Ánh Vy had rarely felt with anyone else since the day she was reborn.
Once in the car, she rolled down the window and looked back at Dịch Phong who was still standing there waiting for her to leave safely before turning around and walking towards her car. In that short moment, she suddenly realized that perhaps she was starting to look forward to random encounters like this more than she thought.
