“So what now?”

Tham Khinh Chu thought, walked over and pulled out the chair next to him to sit down, the distance was neither far nor near, just within the allowable range of the survey.

“Two options.” He raised his finger, "One, let's keep our distance, wait for the right moment and then tell him."

“What about the second option?”

He looked at me with serious eyes.

"Go confess to Mr. To."

I was stunned: "Are you crazy? If you confess now, your father will definitely break your legs!"

“I know.” He smiled faintly, "So I chose option one."

In my heart, I breathed a sigh of relief, but looking at his calm face, I felt a bit uncomfortable.

“Little Uncle Tham.”

“Yes?”

“How long have you been friends with your father?”

“It's been seven or eight years.” He thought, "I returned home after graduating and went to medical school. He asked his friends to help him look at a medical examination report. We went back and forth a few times and became close friends. He treated me very well, like his own brother."

“So you plan to pursue his daughter, don't you feel any pressure?”

He looked at me and was silent for a moment.

“The pressure is huge.” He said truthfully, "So I originally intended to take it slow, wait until you really wanted to before resolving this matter."

“So what if I still don't want to?”

“Then it won't be resolved anymore.”

He said it too decisively, making me dumbfounded.

“Aren't you afraid of wasting your effort in vain?”

He smiled, in that smile there was something I couldn't understand.

"That year, after you broke up with me and blocked me, I couldn't sleep for a week." He said, "Then I realized, if you really don't want it, then there's no point in doing anything. But if you're willing, then I can wait as long as I want."

I lowered my eyes, staring at the fingers resting on my knees.

“Tham Khinh Chu.”

“Yes?”

“Shorten the survey time.”

He was clearly stunned.

“What did you say?”

“You said it would shorten the survey time.” I looked up at him, trying to sound calm in my voice, "If you keep this going any longer, I'll probably be the one to succumb first."

He looked at me, his eyes first opened wide, then slowly curved up, the smile from the bottom of his eyes spread to the corners of his lips, his whole face lit up.

“Short until when?”

“Until your next exam is over.”

“That's next month.”

"It took a long time? So you can give up."

“No complaints.” He immediately continued, "One month, I'll wait for you."

He stretched out his hand, stopped in mid-air for a moment, and looked at me questioningly. I hesitated a bit, put my hand up, palm pressed against his palm. He grabbed it gently, his thumb caressing the back of my hand.

“The survey period is not over yet.” I remind you.

“I know.” He wrapped my hand in his palm, his voice was very low, "Just hold it, don't do anything else."

The cinnamon flowers outside the window were blown in by the wind, falling scattered on the table, just like little yellow stars. I didn't withdraw my hand. 8 I overestimated my own concentration. After making the decision to shorten the survey time, the thin layer of paper separating me and Tham Khinh Chu became as thin as a cicada's wing. He still complied with the rule of not jumping the fence, but I myself began to feel uneasy. For example, when he lectured, I would sit in the front row and stare Older brother. If I looked at him for a long time, he would pause for a moment, the movement of flipping the PPT would slowly stagnate for a few tenths of a second, then he would continue to lecture as if nothing had happened. At the end of the class, he immediately texted: Tham Khinh Chu: [If you keep looking, I'll lose concentration.] Me: [I'll see if you lose concentration.] Tham Khinh Chu: [Did you do that on purpose?] Me: [That's right.] Tham Khinh Chu: […Okay, you win.] I held my phone and rolled around on the dormitory bed.
