Chapter 2 — After Kicking the Medical Professor

Responsibility for his head!! I was about to object when the office door was pushed open, my father half-sticking his body in: "What are you two talking about so loudly?" Tham Khinh Chu immediately changed his face and stood up with an extremely serious expression: "Nothing, I was just talking about admission with Van Le." My father said "oh", without the slightest doubt, waving to me: "Let's go, daughter, don't disturb Uncle Tham's work." It was as if I had received a general amnesty. I almost rushed out the door. The moment we passed each other, Tham Khinh Chu's voice was extremely light and extremely fast reaching my ears.

"Classmate Luu Le, we... the days are long and the months are long."

My steps stopped, goosebumps stood up all over my back. Done. It seems I... have offended a vindictive man. 2 On the day of admission, my father insisted on personally taking me downstairs to the dormitory. He carried his suitcase and walked like the wind, I had to run in small steps after him, my mind was full of Tham Khinh Chu's "smile hiding a knife" face.

"Daughter, uncle Tham specifically told me to stop by his office when you have time, he will teach you about some specialized subjects." My father spoke without looking back.

I tripped and almost grabbed a frog.

“Uncle… when did he tell dad?”

"Last night, when did you praise me for being smart and having the talent to study medicine?"

Me: “…” How come I don't believe it at all? After arranging a place to live and seeing my father home, I lay down on the unfamiliar bed staring at the ceiling, pondering whether I should pretend to be dead and not come find him. But thinking back, Tham Khinh Chu is the professor teaching my major for the next five years, and is also the direct boss of the anatomy teaching assistant position. If I don't go, he just needs to "put on small shoes" (cause trouble) for me, and my student life will be over. Okay, let's take a walk around the demon gate. I lingered until three o'clock in the afternoon before slowly making my way to the teaching building of the Faculty of Medicine. His office was at the end of the hallway on the fifth floor. The door was ajar. I just raised my hand to knock when I heard a sweet, pampering female voice from inside.

"Teacher Tham, are you free tonight? I'll invite you to dinner."

My movements stopped. Looking in through the crack in the door, a senior girl with curly chestnut hair was leaning over the edge of Tham Khinh Chu's desk, smiling brightly like a flower. Tham Khinh Chu sat in a chair, bowed his head and graded documents, the angle of his face was cold and distant.

“Not available.”

"So when will you be free? I just received a scholarship, I want to thank you for helping me edit my thesis..."

“No need.” He didn't even raise his head, "The thesis was written by you, it has nothing to do with me."

The other girl's smile stiffened a bit, but then quickly adjusted, reaching out to pull his sleeve: "Master Tham, don't be so polite——" Tham Khinh Chu suddenly looked up, just in time to see me peeking out the door. His eyes lit up, the corner of his mouth curled up to an amplitude that made the alarm bell in my heart ring loudly.

“Is Van Le here?”

He said this sentence loudly and clearly, directly interrupting the other sister's movements. She turned her head to look at me, her eyes scanning my face, carrying a bit of scrutiny.

“Who is this?”

“My teaching assistant,” Tham Khinh Chu put down his pen and said in a gentle tone, "Freshman, in the future, you will follow me to help teach anatomy."

The way my sister looked at me immediately turned from scrutiny to undisguised contempt: "Freshman? Teaching assistant? Mr. Tham, are you wrong, anatomy is not a game of goods——"

“To Van Le.” Tham Khinh Chu did not answer her, but waved to me, "Come here."
