“So you're pretty good at fighting too?”

“It's okay.”

"That's it then," I patted the table, "This weekend, I'll come to your house for dinner."

His movement of picking up dumplings missed a beat: "This weekend?"

“What, are you shy?”

“Don't be shy.” He put down his chopsticks and looked at me seriously, "If you tell me to go, I'll go."

That noodle meal ended, he took me back downstairs to the dormitory. When we broke up, he grabbed my wrist and squeezed it gently.

“To Van Le.”

“Yes?”

"If your father really tries to attack you, remember to intervene a bit."

“Didn't you say you were quite good at fighting?”

“With him, you can't fight back.”

Looking at his rare tense face, I leaned closer, stood on tiptoe and kissed him on the cheek.

“Don't worry, I will say that I actively pursue you.”

His ears turned red again. When I got home on the weekend, my father was sitting in the living room making tea, the TV turned on the News program. When I led Tham Khinh Chu into the door, he raised his head to look, his expression unchanged.

"Already here? Sit down."

Tham Khinh Chu sat down on the sofa systematically, completely different from his usual leisurely appearance in the office. I sat next to him, facing Dad. The living room was quiet for a minute. My father spoke first: "Uncle Tham, how many years have you known me?"

“It's been seven or eight years.”

"Then you must know what kind of disability I have."

"Mr. To is very loyal and extremely protective of his family."

“That's right.” My father put down the tea cup, looked at Tham Khinh Chu, his eyes sharp, "So are you trying to ask me for something? Say it, I will definitely help you!"

Tham Khinh Chu took a deep breath, stood up, bowed to my father.

“Mr. To, Van Le and I are dating.”

The living room fell silent for a full three seconds. Then my father placed the teacup in his hand firmly on the table, the sound of the porcelain bottom hitting the marble surface made a "click".

“What did you say?”

“I said,” Tham Khinh Chu stood up straight, his eyes looking straight at my father, “I like your daughter, I want to be serious with her.”

I was so nervous that my palms were sweating, secretly observing my father's facial expression. His facial muscles twitched twice, I could see that he was holding back some kind of emotion. Then my father exploded.

"Tham Khinh Chu!! You treat me like a brother and yet you dare to seduce my daughter?! You are ten years older than her!! You are a university professor and she is just a freshman!! This beast!!"

He grabbed the teacup from the table—— I thought he was about to throw it, but unexpectedly he drank all the tea in the cup, then slammed the cup back onto the table.

“When did you guys start?!”

Tham Khinh Chu glanced at me, I glanced at him and signaled him.

“After the university exam.”

I breathed a sigh of relief, luckily he didn't tell the truth.

"It's only been a few months since the university entrance exam? And yet you've already lied to someone?"

“It was me who pursued him first.” I quickly defended, "Dad, don't blame him, I took the initiative."

My father turned his head to look at me, his expression was truly filled with hatred that iron could not become steel: "What initiative do you have? In 12th grade, you screamed at your father every day to study hard and not fall in love!"

“…People always change, dad.”

“Change your head!”

While the atmosphere was drawing the bow and sword, Tham Khinh Chu suddenly hooked from inside took out an envelope and brought it to her.

"Mr. To, here is my asset certificate, health examination report and career plan. Under my name, I have two houses, one car, no mortgage debt. I have been practicing medicine for five years, with no disciplinary violations. In the next five years I have no intention of going abroad, I will stay at Hoa Nam Medical Academy to lead students."

My father was stunned.

“Uncle… why did you prepare these things?”
