Chapter 7 — After Kicking the Medical Professor

Being said to my heart, I spoke forcefully: "What nonsense are you talking about." Tham Khinh Chu just happened to walk over, heard the second half of the sentence, raised his eyebrows and asked: "What are you talking about?"

“Tell me you're handsome.” Tran Du quickly said one sentence and then walked away, "Teacher, I'll withdraw first!"

In the lab, there were only two of us left. I stood in front of the sink and tried to scrub my hands. The rubber gloves I wore for the entire class period made my fingertips turn slightly white. Tham Khinh Chu stood next to me, leisurely taking off his gloves.

“How did it feel the first time you did it?”

“That's okay.” I told the truth, "It's just that I didn't control the section thickness well. The illustration on the Atlas is too different from reality."

“It's normal, you'll get used to it if you see it a lot and do it a lot.” After taking off his gloves, he suddenly reached out and grabbed my fingers, "If your hands are stiff, don't keep rubbing them. The more you rub, the stiffer they will be."

My whole body stiffened. His palm was warm, covering my cold fingertips, the pressure was very light.

“Little Uncle Tham…”

“Hmm?”

"You're taking advantage of my convenience."

He bent down to look at our intertwined hands, let go, looking innocent: "This is called caring."

"So do you care if Tran Du holds hands like this?"

"Tran Du is a man."

“So you only care about girls?”

He was silent for two seconds, looking at me, the corner of his mouth slowly raised.

“To Van Le, are you jealous?”

“I don't have it!”

“So why do you care who I care about?”

"I'm afraid there's a problem with your medical ethics!"

“Don't worry,” He turned around and took off his blouse, with a smile in his voice, “My medical ethics are very good, I'm just constantly probing the margins of principle with only you.”

I crumpled up the tissue paper and threw it at his back. He caught it, threw it in the trash, and when he returned, his smile was even brighter.

“Do you have a date tonight?”

“…Do what?”

“Let's go eat.” He glanced at the phone, "Your father asked me to take care of your food and living arrangements. He told me that whenever I'm busy, I skip meals."

“When did your dad say it?”

“Just finished.”

I took out my phone to look, and sure enough, my dad had just sent a message to the family group: "Girls, remember to eat and drink properly. If you have anything, just look for Uncle Tham, don't be polite." Me: “…” Finally, does my father know that his daughter and his long-time friend are together? No, it *once* had one leg.

“Okay,” I compromised, “Then don't take me to places that are too expensive, I won't be able to eat everything and it'll be a waste.”

"Take me to the noodle shop I often eat at, it's clean and cheap."

He took his coat and went to the door to wait for me. There was only one light left in the laboratory light. In the dim light, he tilted his head slightly to look at me, the bottom of his eyes reflecting a warm yellow light.

“Are you going?”

I suddenly remembered when I was in 12th grade, when he invited me out to eat, I always made up excuses to let him climb the tree. One time he texted: "Today I passed by your company downstairs, do you want to go have lunch with me?", I replied: "I'm so busy, eat it yourself." Actually, that day I skipped extra classes at night to go to the milk tea shop to do my homework. Then he sent a photo—— He sat alone in a noodle shop, two bowls of noodles in front of him, a pair of chopsticks resting across the rim of an empty bowl on the opposite side. He said: "Wait until you are free." At that time I didn't replied to that message, then the next day I blocked him.

“To Van Le?” Seeing me stunned, he called out.

I woke up and walked quickly.

“Come here come here.”

Stepping out of the teaching building, the night wind blew on my face, he walked outside me, not fast, not slow. The streetlight cast our shadow lengthening, his shadow was a bit taller than me, falling right next to my feet, as if he was walking with me.

“Little Uncle Tham.”

“Yes.”

"That meal... how will you handle it later?"
