Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — After Kicking the Medical Professor
The other end was silent for a moment. Then he sent a word. Tham Khinh Chu: [Oh.] Oh your head. I was about to put the phone down when the screen lit up again. Tham Khinh Chu: [Next time, just directly fold it up for me.] He paused. Tham Khinh Chu: [I don't mind you touching my things.] 4 Surgery class on Monday morning, I woke up very early. Last night I couldn't sleep, my mind was filled with the words "I don't mind you touching my things", it was as opaque as a layer of fog, neither graspable nor dissipating. When I changed into a white blouse and entered the anatomy laboratory, Tham Khinh Chu had already arrived. He stood at the operating table adjusting the operating light. Inside the blouse was a thin dark gray turtleneck sweater, the sleeves were rolled up to his forearms, revealing a toned wrist. The angle of his face was illuminated by the light, the shadow of the bridge of his nose falling on the upper edge of the mask, so handsome that it was a bit against the rules. I silently scolded myself in my heart: To Van Le, calm down, that's your father's long-time friend.
“Already here?” Hearing footsteps, he turned his head, his eyes stopped on me for a moment, "The blouse is on backwards."
I lowered my head to look—— The label on the collar was indeed turned out.
“…You did it on purpose, this shows you have an academic attitude.”
“Academic attitude is reflected in the frequency of hand washing, not in the left or right shirt worn.” He walked over, reached out to help me take off my blouse, flipped it, and then put it back on for me himself.
The whole process he did was very gentle, occasionally his fingers grazed my shoulder, separated by a thin layer of fabric, still clearly feeling the temperature.
“It's done.” He took a half step back, "This looks much more presentable."
My ears were hot, I didn't dare look at him, I lowered my head and pretended to study the sample on the working table. A moment later, students kept coming in. As a freshman, learning anatomy for the first time, everyone was both excited and nervous, whispering loudly. Tran Du was also there, winking and giving me a thumbs up. When Tham Khinh Chu stepped onto the podium, the whole room immediately fell silent. He stood there, his aura completely changed, his voice clear and calm: "In this class we will learn about the anatomical structure of the upper limb muscle group. I will model first, then the teaching assistant will guide you to practice in groups." When my name was announced in front of everyone, more than thirty pairs of eyes from the whole class turned towards me. I tried to stay calm and walked to the operating table. Tham Khinh Chu gave me a position.
“You go first,” He handed me a scalpel, leaned close to my ear and said in a volume that only the two of us could hear, “Don't tremble.”
I tightly grasped the handle of the knife, took a deep breath, and lowered my head to look at the specimen of the body in front of me. To be honest, saying I'm not afraid is a lie. Based on the anatomical Atlas I memorized last night, I found the starting point of the deltoid muscle under the clavicle, lowered the knife, and dissected it, but the movement was quite smooth. Throughout the whole process, Tham Khinh Chu did not say a word, only at critical points, he gently touched the back of my hand, indicating that the angle was off. His fingertips were cold, touching the back of my hand like a small piece of ice. Heart I missed a beat, the blade missed half a millimeter.
“…Very good.” He retracted his hand and said to the whole class, "Teaching assistant did a great job, everyone please applaud."
The sound of sporadic applause rang out, my face turned red again. At the end of the class, the students went out one by one, Tran Du approached: "That's great, warrior, it's the first time practicing and your hands are so steady, I thought you were going to vomit right there on the battlefield."
“My mental qualities are good.”
"Maybe it's because Teacher Tham is standing next to me that you don't dare sneak up, right?"
