Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Mother-in-law Tests Daughter-in-law's Heart
"Egg dumplings, mom personally wrapped them." Tran Nghien walked to the side of the table, picked up chopsticks and tried another plate of untouched dumplings. He split open a dumpling. The golden eggs fall apart, revealing dark green crumbs. He stared for two seconds, then looked up at Ton Que Phan. "What is this?" Ton Que Phan's face twitched. "Scrap vegetables." "What vegetables?" "Just a little bit." "I ask mom, what vegetables?" Tran Nghien's voice was not loud, but overwhelmed all the sounds in the room. Ton Que Phan became irritated when he stared at her. "Haha." She pulled off her apron, seemingly not wanting to hold back any longer. "Just give me a little bit." "Didn't he already eat it all?" "If he's really allergic, can he eat the whole plate?" Ninh Uyen held her hand on the edge of the table, her fingers squeezing her stomach until it turned white. Tran Nghien turned to look at her. "Ninh Uyen, how are you?" Ninh Uyen shook her head. She didn't want to scare him. But in the next second, her chest suddenly tightened, her breathing seemed to be blocked midway. She couldn't help but cough. This cough caused the wet cotton stuck in his throat to immediately expand. Tran Nghien's face instantly changed. He held her shoulder. "Don't talk." Ton Que Phan stood next to her, still speechless and argued: "Don't let him scare you, he's just unhappy." "Eating just now was normal." "Tell mom it tastes okay." Tran Nghien didn't pay attention to her, and directly took out his phone. Ninh Uyen put her hand on his wrist. "Wait." Tran Nghien bowed his head. Her hands were very cold, her fingertips trembled slightly. "Why?" Ninh Uyen tried to keep her breath. "I want to wait for you to come home." Tran Nghien's eyes were red. "I knew there were chives inside?" Ninh Uyen did not answer. She just looked at Ton Que Phan. Ton Que Phan felt guilty when she looked at her and raised her voice: "What are you looking at me for?" "I didn't add poison." "I just want to prove that you're not that serious." "You're pregnant, you can't not eat this and that, making the whole family have to revolve around you." Tran Nghien suddenly turned around. "Mom!" This scream made Ton Que Phan take a step back. She had never seen her son look at her like that. Like looking at a stranger. "You yell at mom?" "She's allergic to chives, how many times have you told her?" "Allergy to allergy, whose family is allergic and dares to eat the whole plate?" Ton Que Phan pointed to the empty plate. "He ate by himself, mom didn't force him to eat." Ninh Uyen heard these words, her stomach churned violently. She wanted to get up to go to the bathroom. As she propped herself up, her eyes suddenly went dark. Tran Nghien hugged her. "Ninh Uyen!" She leaned against his chest, breathing became more and more difficult. Lips swollen to the point of numbness, sounds in ears as if separated by a layer of water. Tran Nghien immediately called an ambulance. His voice trembled, but each word was spoken very clearly. "Pregnant women, chive allergy, after eating, swollen lips, difficulty breathing." "The address is..." As soon as Ton Que Phan heard the ambulance call, his face turned pale. "Did you really call an ambulance?" Tran Nghien raised his eyes to look at her: "You better pray she's okay." Ton Que Phan's lips moved. "What's wrong with you?" "If he doesn't eat, will he get sick?" Like this?” As soon as the words ended, Ninh Uyen's tears suddenly welled up. Not because of crying due to pain. Nor cry out of fear. But at this moment, she finally realized, from beginning to end, Ton Que Phan had never considered her a person who knew pain and fear. In Ton Que Phan's eyes, she was just a woman who took away her son, an outsider who needed to be taught. Tran Nghien carried her and placed her on the sofa, lining her upper body with high pillows. He listened to the call center for emergency instructions and searched the medicine box.
