Chapter 13 — My Driver is No. 1 Young Master in the Capital

In a private office on the top floor of the Viet Cuong Group building, Luong Ba Tuong sat quietly in front of the computer screen, his fingers lightly tapping on the keyboard while his mind was reeling with a series of unanswered questions. The poisoning of Cung Bach Nhan should have gone smoothly, without leaving any traces that could be traced back to the source - but somehow, that little master was miraculously saved in less than an hour.

He pulled out his phone and called a strange number registered under a fake name. "Why is the boy still alive?" He asked directly, his voice filled with suppressed frustration.

"We don't know." The voice on the other end of the line replied, a bit confused. "The type of poison we provide has almost no cure in modern medicine. But rumor has it, a strange woman appeared and saved his life using some traditional method."

Luong Ba Tuong frowned, his mind immediately thinking of the new daughter-in-law of Cung Vinh Thanh that the whole group had been talking about for the past few days - a woman who got married quickly to young master Bach Tan, and was said to have amazing medical talent.

He stood up, walked to the large window overlooking the entire city at night, sparkling lights stretching to the horizon. Twenty years with Viet Cuong Group, from a lowly assistant to the position of executive vice president, he understands better than anyone the value of the trust that Cung Vinh Thanh has placed in him - and because he understands that clearly, he knows how to take advantage of it in a sophisticated way without anyone suspecting him for all these years.

The plan to acquire shares with Han Chi Kien was carefully prepared for two years, step by step, from manipulating small investment decisions, gradually weakening the confidence of small shareholders, to silently purchasing shares through a series of shell companies abroad. In just a few months, when the percentage of shares held reaches the threshold enough to dominate the board of directors, he will officially take action, pushing Cung Vinh Thanh and Bach Tan out of executive positions, turning Viet Cuong into a chess piece under the alliance between him and Han Chi Kien.

But now, the appearance of a mysterious force that is quietly investigating puts the entire plan at risk of collapse if not handled promptly.

"Investigate that woman carefully." He ordered, his voice cold. "I want to know everything about her, from her family, her relationships, to the people she often comes into contact with."

A few days later, a preliminary report was sent to Luong Ba Tuong's desk, revealing information that startled him - Tham Bach Duong, descendant of a mysterious medical and martial arts family named Bach Thao Duong, with seven "brothers" holding important positions in society. This is not an ordinary daughter-in-law that he can take lightly.

At the same time, in the past few days, Luong Ba Tuong also began to notice unusual signs around him — a few strange calls that when checked led to an unknown phone number, a vague feeling of being followed every time he left the company, and especially one time he discovered that someone had accessed one of the secondary email accounts that he thought no one knew about.

He convened an urgent meeting with Han Chi Kien, Chairman of Dai Phong Group, at a private villa on the outskirts of the city, where they often secretly met to discuss the plan to acquire Viet Cuong.

"Someone is investigating us." Luong Ba Tuong spoke frankly, without beating around the bush. "I don't know exactly who it is, but the signs are clear. The poisoning of Bach Nhan should have caused Cung Vinh Thanh and Bach Tan to panic, lose focus on their business, and create conditions for our stock acquisition plan to go smoothly. But now, I feel like someone is watching our every step."

Han Chi Kien frowned and turned the wine glass in his hand. "Who do you think it is? Cung Vinh Thanh is too old to investigate such details himself. Bach Tan only knows how to play and enjoy himself all day, rarely getting deeply involved in the actual management of the corporation."

"That's what worries me." Luong Ba Tuong replied, his voice low. "If not them, then who else has the motivation and ability to investigate so deeply? We need to be more careful, and perhaps, need a stronger measure to deter and stop anyone who is trying to foil our plans."

"What are you going to do?" Han Chi Kien asked, his eyes flashed with curiosity and somewhat concern.

"Cung Vinh Thanh's new daughter-in-law, Tham Bach Duong." Luong Ba Tuong said, his voice was cold and chilling. "She has a formidable family standing behind her, but that is also a weakness that can be exploited. If we can put pressure on her, distracting the Cung family from worrying about the safety of their daughter-in-law, they won't have enough mind to continue investigating anything else."

"Are you sure this is a wise decision?" Han Chi Kien asked, a little hesitant. "The family behind her is said to be not ordinary. It can cause unpredictable consequences if we touch it."

"We don't need to really hurt her." Luong Ba Tuong replied, his voice full of calculation. "Just a strong enough warning, enough to make both the Cung family and the Tham family hesitate, not daring to continue to probe deeper into our affairs. That's enough to give us more time to complete the acquisition plan before anyone can discover the truth."

After the meeting, Luong Ba Tuong secretly contacted a group of professional hired men in the underworld, assigning them the task of closely monitoring Bach Duong, looking for the right time and place to "send a warning" without leaving any trace that could be traced back to him.

Meanwhile, completely unaware of the approaching danger, Bach Duong continued her daily life — going to work in the small clinic in the morning, coming home in the afternoon to prepare dinner for Bach Tan, occasionally visiting Bach Thao Duong to report the situation to her master. Without her realizing it, since the day she saved Cung Bach Nhan's life, she had accidentally become the target in a power game more dangerous than anything she had ever imagined.

Bach Tan, despite sensing the increasing danger from the clues Dang Huu Khiem collected, still did not fully realize the severity of the situation. He only knows that his investigation is getting closer than ever to the truth, and that means the traitor is also becoming more desperate and dangerous.

"Young master, I have a bad feeling." Dang Huu Khiem spoke on the phone one evening, his voice full of worry. "Recently, I discovered a few strange calls from numbers related to the underworld calling Luong Ba Tuong's phone number. I'm not sure, but I'm worried that he is preparing to do something dangerous."

"Watch more closely." Bach Tan ordered, his voice tense, his hand gripping the phone so tightly that his knuckles turned white. "And pay special attention to any signs related to Bach Duong's safety. I don't want her to be implicated in this, even in the smallest way."

But that warning, although given promptly, was still not fast enough to prevent what was about to happen in the coming days, when the darkness of the betrayal plot began to stretch its first tentacles to touch the woman that both of the most powerful families in the capital were silently protecting.

At the same time, at a small cafe near the oriental medicine clinic where Bach Duong worked, two strange men sat quietly observing, one holding a newspaper that obscured half of his face, the other continuously scrolling through his phone but his eyes never left the clinic door on the opposite side. They had been sitting there since early morning, recording every little detail of Bach Duong's daily schedule — the time she arrived, the time she left, the roads she often took, and even the moments when she was alone without anyone to escort her.

No one in the clinic noticed that unusual presence, including Bach Duong, who was still busy examining an old man with chronic joint pain, completely unaware that, right outside the familiar wooden door, a silent danger was gradually closing the circle around the peaceful life she had tried to build.
