Chapter 7
Chapter 7 — On my first day as Director, I was kicked out of the cafeteria by the resident doctor
I interrupted her. To Nha Lam's words were stuck in her throat.
“To Nha Lam, do you know who you are facing?”
Her chin was still stubbornly raised.
"I'm not talking to you as Phuong Tri Vien's wife."
“I am using my position as the Director of this hospital to tell you: your test scores are not satisfactory, your job acceptance process is flawed, and the special treatment you enjoy in the department is obvious to the whole hospital.”
"All of these things, each one of them, I will investigate to the end. It has absolutely nothing to do with whether I am Phuong Tri Vien's wife or not."
To Nha Lam's lips trembled.
“You can investigate however you want, anyway, Director Phuong will…”
At the other end of the hallway, the sound of rapid footsteps echoed. Almost running. Phuong Tri Vien appeared at the corner of the hallway. His face was even more unsightly than that day in the restaurant. He looked at To Nha Lam first, then at me, and finally his eyes fell on the file bag in my hand. On that file bag were printed the three words "Human Resources Department". His steps stopped.
“Thanh Ninh… what are you holding in your hand?”
I don't answer. To Nha Lam also turned to look at him. Three people stood in the hallway forming a triangle, no one moved. Phuong Tri Vien's eyes moved from the file bag to my face. He seemed to suddenly realize something.
“Should I look up To Nha Lam's personnel file?”
“Not just hers.”
"Phuong Tri Vien, in the past two years, the person who passed your hand to the hospital to attract talented people is not the only one To Nha Lam, right?"
His face instantly turned the color of ash. Lips moved, as if wanting to say something. At this moment, footsteps were heard at the end of the hallway. Lots of footsteps. Head of human resources department Ngo Hong Mai led two subordinates, holding three file storage boxes, walking this way. Ngo Hong Mai saw the scene in the hallway, her steps slowed down a beat. But she still walked forward.
“Director Co, the documents you requested…”
She opened the top file box.
"In the last three years, the number of people entering the Department of Bones and Joints through talent attraction has been 4 people. All appraisal documents are here."
Not one, but four. Phuong Tri Vien's face lost the last trace of blood. To Nha Lam turned sharply to look at him.
"Four people? I told you I was the only one who brought you in..."
Phuong Tri Vien opened his mouth but couldn't utter a word. At that moment, my phone rang. Display: Chau Khanh Nien. Former boss at the Provincial Health Committee. I picked up the phone. Chau Khanh Nien on the other end of the line only said one sentence.
"Thanh Ninh, the list of inspection teams to go to Hai Thanh Hospital 1 has been finalized, coming next Monday. Your side—"
