Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — On my first day as Director, I was kicked out of the cafeteria by the resident doctor
The meeting room was so quiet that you could clearly hear the sound of the projector's cooling fan. Phuong Tri Vien's eyes stared at the table.
"Last point. To Nha Lam said I deprived her of the right to operate. The truth is, three days ago she performed the main surgery on an 82-year-old patient with a broken femoral neck. During the surgery, the screw positioning was misaligned. A resident doctor did not pass the operation test, but was put on the main operating table, approved by Director Phuong."
I turned off the projector.
"The above is the whole truth. You can judge for yourself whether what I did was a public announcement of private revenge, or working according to regulations."
Not a sound. About five seconds later, Tham Ba Quan was the first to speak.
"Director Co, that... the matter of attracting talent, even though I was the Deputy Head of the Department of Bones and Joints, the approval process at that time really didn't go through my hands. I have to make this clear."
Dean Ton cleared his throat.
"We don't have this problem at the Department of General Surgery. Can I ask, is the inspection team coming next week specifically to check this case?"
"The scope of work of the inspection team is decided by the Department, I do not interfere. But I can tell you, checking yourself is better than having someone else check."
The meeting ended, Dean Ma stopped Phuong Tri Vien at the door. I didn't stop to listen to what they were saying, but looking at the Dean of Code's expression, it wasn't a friendly conversation. Returning to the office, Luu My Hoa knocked on the door.
“Director Co, I withdraw my comments this morning.”
“Do you think what I say makes sense, or do you think the wind has changed direction?”
She paused slightly.
“Chief Liu, you have worked at this hospital for 30 years, you must know very well what is right and what is wrong.”
Her face was slightly red.
"I understand. I won't get involved in the future."
“I don't need you to 'not get involved'.”
I looked at her.
“I need you to be on the right side.”
Liu My Hoa left, Han Man entered.
“Director Co, To Nha Lam just deleted that post in the staff chat group.”
“Did she delete it herself?”
"Director Phuong forced her to delete it. When she walked out of the meeting room, Director Phuong called her directly."
“After deleting, the screenshot will be saved.”
Han Man nodded.
“I saved it.”
Chapter 13 There are four more days until the inspection team arrives. During these four days, Phuong Tri Vien did three things. First, he forced To Nha Lam to write a written review and submit it to the Medical Education Department. Second, he himself also wrote an explanation on the issue of the approval process for attracting non-standard talent, proactively submitting it to the Human Resources Department. Third, he came to find me. It was 8pm, I was the only one left in the office. He knocked on the door. When he entered, he held an envelope in his hand.
“What is this?”
“Resignation letter.”
I looked at the envelope.
“Are you sure?”
He placed the envelope on my desk.
"Thanh Ninh, you were wrong about attracting talented people. You did not handle To Nha Lam's matter satisfactorily. I accept these matters."
“But if you insist on making a fuss about this all the way to the inspection team, making such a fuss that the whole hospital laughs, then I'd rather resign and quit my job.”
“Do you think resigning can erase everything?”
The corner of his mouth curled up sourly.
"So what do you want? If you want to make me lose my reputation, that's all you need." heart?”
“Phuong Tri Vien, until now do you still think this is something I'm trying to talk to you about?”
“The three people I brought in, their education was not up to standard. There was an error when he signed the surgery approval form. His name hangs on every questionable document. These things are for the inspection team to find out. You are the one who will be punished, not me."
“I'm taking the bullet for you. Don't you see?”
He opened his mouth, unable to say a word.
“If the inspection team finds out these things while I don't know anything, then it's a mistake of lax management, dragging me to hold him responsible. But now I proactively intervene first, I proactively rectify first, what is this called? Call the newly appointed Director to promptly detect and proactively correct mistakes."
“I do not accept your resignation.”
I pushed the return envelope.
“You resign now, which is equivalent to bowing to my grandfather in this bush. You just stay at your position, if you need to coordinate inspections then coordinate, if you need to explain then explain, the inspection team that comes will just follow the correct process, after completing the process that deserves to be handled, then handle it that way.”
“Understood?”
Phuong Tri Vien stood there looking at me for a long time. In the end, he took the envelope back without saying thank you or saying sorry. He only said one sentence.
“Thanh Ninh, I and To Nha Lam really don't have the relationship you think.”
“What about the necklace?”
He was stunned.
"That necklace is the one you said you lost last year. I saw To Nha Lam wearing it."
Phuong Tri Vien's expression froze for about three seconds.
“That yarn… she bought it herself, it wasn't given to her by me.”
“The same design?”
“There are a lot of that type of necklace on the market…”
“Phuong Tri Vien.”
“You lie again, next time in front of the inspection team, I won't take bullets for you again.”
His face twitched.
