Chapter 14
Chapter 14 — I Have Conceded Enough
“Then let her decide.”
“But the lady doesn't like white daisies.”
“She should have known.”
Aunt Tran sighed. Say nothing more. An hour later, the eldest brother called.
“How was the blackout issue resolved?”
“I don't know.”
“The hotel had to be replaced once, now it's impossible to bring new flowers in time.”
“Then use the existing flowers.”
“Mom, you won't be happy.”
“You can explain it to me.”
“Ta Tri Vi.”
His voice tried to contain his anger.
“Today is mom's birthday.”
“I know.”
“Can't you go home and take a trip?”
“Impossible.”
“Why?”
My hand holding the brooch restoration tool is still extremely steady.
“I have to work today.”
“What job is more important than mom?”
“My job.”
The other end of the line suddenly went silent. I also had a job before. But in their eyes, my work has never been important.
“Tri Vi.”
The eldest brother's voice lowered a bit.
"About the sapphire, Tinh Mien has realized his mistake."
“He cried for two days.”
“The project also had to be paused.”
“Go home, everything can still be saved.”
“How to save it?”
“I took over the project.”
I burst out laughing.
“Eldest brother.”
“He cried for two days, then the project forced me to take over.”
“So I was sent abroad for a year, who took over my life for me?”
His breathing suddenly stopped.
“That…”
“It's over.”
I finished his sentence.
“You guys are like that every time.”
“If you hurt me, it's over.”
“When it was Hua Tinh Mien's turn to feel sorry for herself, it became the most important thing in the world.”
“I don't have…”
“Send a happy birthday to my mother for me.”
I hung up the phone. At five o'clock in the afternoon, my mother came personally. She stood in front of the studio door, wearing a long pearl white dress. There is no jewelry on the chest. The driver followed behind, carrying a box of cakes.
“Tri Vi.”
Seeing me, her eyes suddenly turned red. To Yen Thu discreetly sneaked inside. I took off my gloves.
“Why did you come here?”
Mom looked around everywhere. Studio is not big. The shelves are full of jewelry waiting to be repaired. In the corner there is only an old sofa. She frowned.
“Have you been here these past few days?”
“Yes.”
“Do you also sleep here at night?”
“There are rooms upstairs.”
Mom pursed her lips.
“There is no shortage of space at home.”
“My room has been given to Hua Tinh Mien.”
“You can stay in the living room.”
“It's the same everywhere.”
Mom's tears finally flowed out.
“How can they be the same?”
“I am your mother.”
“The Ta family is my home.”
I looked at her.
“Mom.”
It's been a long time since you heard me call you that. Light immediately flashed in her eyes.
“Did you come here to tell me to come home for dinner?”
“Of course.”
“Your relatives are all waiting for you.”
“Tinh Mien has also prepared gifts.”
“He knows you're angry, so he doesn't dare say a word about you today.”
It turns out it was still to give Hua Tinh Mien peace of mind. I nodded.
“I'm not going home.”
The light in my mother's eyes went out.
“Why?”
“The work is not done.”
“We can do it tomorrow.”
“No way.”
“I wasn't like this before.”
"Before, I thought that if I didn't do it, no one would do it."
“Later I discovered that no one really did it.”
Face mother turned pale.
“Are you blaming mom?”
“No.”
“So why didn't your mother come home even for her birthday?”
I thought for a bit.
“Mom has Hua Tinh Mien by her side.”
“But you are also my daughter.”
“In the past, people often said, she needs her mother more than her child.”
“I thought it would be right for me to give way.”
Mom's lips trembled slightly.
“Tri Vi, do you even want to give it up to your mother?”
I didn't answer. My silence was like a knife stabbing straight into her heart, tears fell from her eyes.
“I never thought about not needing you.”
