Chapter 3 — I Have Conceded Enough

Updated 10/08/2026 3 min read

Hua Tinh Mien was held by my mother's hand and walked behind me. The silver-white wedding dress dragged on the floor, like a streak of moonlight stripped from my own body. Guests quickly noticed the abnormality. The wedding photos scheduled to be broadcast on the big screen were hastily turned off by the staff. Luc Tram Le was not standing next to me. And in Hua Tinh Mien's hand, there was a ring that should have belonged to me. The whispers immediately spread. The eldest brother stepped up to the podium and took the microphone.

“Thank you for coming to celebrate today.”

“Tri Vi just returned home, her body is a bit unwell.”

“The engagement ceremony is expected to be temporarily postponed.”

After speaking, he glanced at me. A warning look. Tell me not to say anything. I have never been an obedient person. That's why they had to send me away for a year. But now, I have changed. Elder brother won't let me say nonsense, of course I won't say nonsense. Someone couldn't help but ask:

"Miss Ta's health is not good, why is Miss Hua wearing a wedding dress?"

The entire auditorium suddenly fell silent. The eldest brother's face stiffened slightly. The edges of Hua Tinh Mien's eyes immediately turned red.

“It's my fault.”

“I just wanted to try on your wedding dress, but I didn't expect you to misunderstand.”

The girl walked towards me, trying to reach out and hold my hand.

“Sister, please explain to everyone.”

“I really didn't mean to steal your engagement party.”

His voice is very small. But loud enough for everyone standing nearby to hear. In the past, whenever I encountered something like this, I would definitely shake his hand away. It will fall, it will cry. Then everyone will believe that I am bullying him. Today I don't wave my hand. I let it hold on. Even gently adjusting the thin chiffon flap on her shoulder.

“Don't be afraid.”

I gently comforted.

“I will explain clearly.”

Hua Tinh Mien was stunned. My mother looked at me with appreciative and comforting eyes. The eldest brother's expression also softened a bit. I took the microphone from him.

“Don't misunderstand.”

"Hua Tinh Mien did not steal my engagement party."

My mother breathed a sigh of relief. Hua Tinh Mien's eyes flashed with a bit of pride. I continued:

“I took the initiative to give it to her.”

The whole hall was silent. The eldest brother's face changed drastically. My voice is still calm.

“Tinh Mien likes Luc Tram Le.”

“My family members think that she needs this marriage more than I do.”

“So from today onwards, the engagement agreement, the wedding dress and the wedding ring all belong to her.”

“Please bless them everyone.”

It's unclear whose glass of wine just fell to the ground. The sound of broken glass rang out, tearing through the quiet atmosphere of the entire hall.

“Ta Tri Vi!”

My father - Ta Sung Son - finally ran over and stood right at the entrance to the banquet hall, his face pale.

“Get down here now!”

I returned the microphone to the eldest brother's hand.

“The explanation is over.”

The eldest brother's fingers tightened around the microphone, blue veins appearing on the back of his hand.

“Who gave you permission to say these words?”

“Isn't it true?”

"I know that's not what my family meant!"

“So what do you guys mean?”

I looked at my mother, then looked at the ring on Hua Tinh Mien's hand.

“I give you the ring.”

“She wore the wedding dress.”

“Luc Tram Le didn't either refuse."

“Everyone doesn't allow me to make a fuss.”

“I only have to give blessings.”

What a perfect way to handle it. No arguing. Don't hit people. No one has to be thrown abroad anymore. But they don't look very happy. How strange. In the past, when I made a fuss, they criticized me for not understanding. Now that I don't make a fuss, their faces are even more unsightly. My dad told his assistant to end the party early.
