Chapter 1
Chapter 1 — My Husband's Secretary Announced Pregnancy
My husband's secretary texted me to show off her pregnancy to provoke me. I immediately transformed into the "evil wife" and invited my husband's parents to watch a good play. My husband was taking a shower. His phone screen suddenly lit up, showing a message:
"I'm pregnant."
The sender's name is saved as "Secretary Lam". I stared at that text message. Three seconds later... I burst out laughing. I took his phone and calmly answered:
"Come to my house. My wife isn't home tonight."
Then I sent my husband's parents a text message:
"Mom and dad, come here quickly. We're about to have a very big happy story to announce."
Tran Mac is taking a bath. The sound of water rushing in the bathroom completely cut off the outside world. His phone was placed on the coffee table in the living room, and the screen suddenly lit up. I unconsciously bent down to look. A message has just been sent. The sender's name is saved as "Lam Uyen". The content has only four words:
"I'm pregnant."
My stomach felt like someone was choking me, churning in waves. Five years of marriage. Three years of waiting for you. I've heard countless gossips, drank countless bitter medicines... In return, it's just those four words. Four words sent by his secretary. The house was strangely quiet. Besides the sound of water still flowing in the bathroom, there were no other sounds. I stared at the text message. Five seconds... Then I burst out laughing. Doesn't make a sound. Just the corners of the lips curled slightly. I took his phone and used my fingerprint to unlock it. That's my fingerprint. In the past, Tran Mac once said that he was honest and upright, and let me use the phone freely, so he proactively added my fingerprints to the phone. Now that I think about it... What a satire. I opened the chat box, my finger quickly slid across the screen, answering for him.
"Come to my house. My wife isn't home tonight."
Message sent. Having finished everything, I put his phone down, then picked up my phone. I opened the family group, found my husband's parents' account and texted:
"Mom and dad, come over here quickly. We're about to have a very big happy story to announce."
After sending, I threw the phone aside, walked into the bedroom and opened the closet. Inside were my clothes hung. All elegant colors, gentle designs... All are the style Tran Mac likes. My fingers slid over each simple linen dress, finally stopping at a black silk dress. I took it down and replaced it. The woman in the mirror still had a calm expression. Only dark eyes like a deep well with no bottom. I sat down in front of the dressing table. Start applying makeup. The first layer is foundation to cover a pale face. Next is eyebrow, eyeliner... Finally, lipstick. I choose the reddest lipstick. It was Tran Mac who bought it as a gift. At that time, he also said that the lipstick color was too bright and didn't suit me, so I could just keep it at the bottom of the drawer. I looked at myself in the mirror, meticulously painting little by little. Then one more time. The woman in the mirror gradually becomes both strange and familiar. That's how I looked before getting married. At that moment, there was a noise outside the living room. The bathroom door opened.
"Thanh Thanh, get me a towel, I forgot to bring it."
Tran Mac's voice is still lazy after just taking a shower. I didn't reply.
"Qingqing?"
He called again. I picked up the file on the table. The paper cover is yellow brown and thick. My fingertips gently stroked along the edge of the file, then I stood up and walked out. Tran Mac left his upper body bare, underneath was only loosely wrapped in a towel, his hair was still dripping water. As soon as he saw me, he was immediately stunned. His eyes stopped on my face one after another... The dress I was wearing... Then the red lipstick on my lips.
"You... what's wrong?"
He frowned.
"Dressing like this, and wearing so much makeup... are you planning to go out?"
I looked at him, smiling.
"I'm waiting for you."
"Waiting for guests."
His expression became even more unsightly.
"Which guest? Why don't you know?"
"You'll know soon enough."
I replied softly. Then put the file on the coffee table, right next to his phone. A very soft "click" sounded. Tran Mac's eyes stopped on the file, then turned to me. His eyes were filled with scrutiny and suspicion. Perhaps he was guessing what childish tricks I was playing this time that he couldn't understand. In his mind, To Thanh I was just a bland, gentle housewife. A woman who always needs his care, can't even keep up with his footsteps. But he doesn't know... He will meet a completely different To Thanh. At that moment, the doorbell rang. I glanced at Tran Mac. His expression showed obvious discomfort.
"Who is still coming at this hour?"
He muttered, intending to go back in and find clothes to wear.
"Probably my parents."
I calmly replied.
"I called my parents."
Tran Mac's voice immediately rose. What he hates the most is the fact that I arbitrarily called his parents to my house.
"Is there something that can't be told tomorrow?"
"Cannot."
I shook my head and slowly walked towards the door.
"This is funny..."
"We must say it tonight."
I opened the door. Outside, my parents-in-law carried all kinds of gifts and nutritious food, smiling so brightly that the corners of their eyes were full of wrinkles. As soon as my mother-in-law saw me, she immediately grabbed my hand, her eyes constantly glancing down at my stomach.
"Thanh Thanh, congratulations! Congratulations!"
"I told you, my son is very good. See, I'm finally pregnant!"
