Chapter 15
Chapter 15 — My Husband's Secretary Announced Pregnancy
After selling the house, I temporarily moved back to my parents' house. Every day, go for a walk with your mother, do beauty treatments, or follow your father to the company, and start learning how to read project documents. A peaceful and fulfilling life. My father seemed to truly consider me a shareholder and consciously began to teach me business knowledge: from reading financial reports, project evaluation, to commercial negotiations. I learn very quickly. I realized that I am not a housewife who is ignorant of everything like Tram Mac once said. On the contrary, I have a natural acumen with numbers and business logic. It's just that during the past five years, I used all that intelligence to worry about cooking and guessing my husband's mood. Now, I can finally use it to create value for myself. One afternoon, while I was studying the feasibility report in my father's study, I received a phone call from lawyer Vuong.
“Miss To, there is a situation that needs to be reported to you.” His voice was serious.
“Please speak.”
"Tram Mac's case will open in court next week. But... he suddenly changed his testimony."
I frowned: "Change testimony? What is he going to deny?"
“He blamed everything on Lam Uyen.” Lawyer Vuong said, "He claimed that the money laundering and asset transfer were all instigated and manipulated by Lam Uyen. She took advantage of her position, forged his signature to sign a fake contract, he himself knew nothing about it."
"He also said that Lam Uyen deliberately set a trap for him to appropriate his property, and intentionally copied those 'evidence' to frame him."
After hearing this, I burst out laughing out of anger.
“Does he think the judge will believe it?”
“Of course not.” Lawyer Vuong said, "The chain of evidence is very complete, you can't just deny it if you want to. But this action of his will cause some trouble for the trial. He clearly wants to muddy the waters, drag Lam Uyen into the water, hoping to reduce the crime, or at least gain some leniency."
“How is Lam Uyen side?” I asked.
“She was very agitated.” Lawyer Vuong sighed, "The police showed her Tram Mac's new testimony, she immediately collapsed. Scolded him for being shameless, and said she would risk her life with him."
I can imagine Lam Uyen's reaction. She put all her hopes in overthrowing Tram Mac, but did not expect that at the last minute he would counterattack, intending to drag her down to hell with her.
“Lawyer Vuong, can I see her?” I asked.
"Okay. I will arrange it."
The next day, under the arrangement of the police, I met Lam Uyen again in an interrogation room. Compared to the previous meeting at the cafe, she was even more haggard. Wearing a gray prison uniform, his hair was cut short, his face was completely bare, and his whole body was as thin as a piece of paper. As soon as she saw me, tears immediately flowed from her eyes.
“Stop crying.” I gave her a piece of paper, "Crying won't solve anything."
She took it, wiped her tears, but still kept sniffling.
“How could he treat me like that… I did so many things for him, gave him everything… How could he come back and bite me like that!” – she was agitated and complained.
“Because he was originally like that.” I calmly looked at her, "Selfish, cold-blooded, for the sake of purpose without any means. He can betray me for money, and he can also sacrifice you to escape guilt. Lam Uyen, it's time for you." Still can't see him clearly?
She didn't say anything, just bowed her head, shook her shoulders and cried.
“Do you want,” I asked, “to make him pay even more for his shamelessness?”
She immediately raised her head and looked at me, her eyes full of resentment.
“Good.” I nodded, “Then do as I say.”
I leaned forward, lowered my voice, and slowly told her my plan, word by word. After hearing this, she was stunned, her eyes full of surprise and confusion.
“Is that… okay?”
“Yes or no, at least try.” I looked at her, “This is your only chance. One is that he dragged him into the water, became an accomplice, and spent several years in prison. The second is to risk your life and counterattack, plunging him into the mud forever and never raising his head again."
“You choose.”
She was silent. I know, this plan is very risky, even a bit crazy. But to deal with a crazy person like Tram Mac, we can only use even crazier methods. After a long time, she raised her head, her eyes were no longer hesitant or soft, but instead showed determination to risk her life.
“Okay.” She said, “I listen to you.”
