Chapter 9
Chapter 9 — My Husband's Secretary Announced Pregnancy
I returned to my parents' house. I pushed the door open and walked in. The living room light was still on, my parents were sitting on the sofa, not yet in bed. Seeing me, my mother immediately stood up, walked quickly to hug me.
“Thanh Thanh, you're finally back.” Mom's voice trembled as if she was about to cry, "It scared me to death."
My father also walked closer. Even though he didn't say anything, his eyes full of worry and sadness could not be hidden. I patted my mother's back gently and reassured her:
“Mom, I'm okay, I'm fine.”
Mom pulled me into a chair and meticulously looked all over my body. Seeing that I was really not injured, she gently breathed a sigh of relief.
"What's going on? That damn Tram Mac... he didn't do anything to you, right?" Mom asked urgently.
I recounted everything that happened tonight — from the moment I received the text message, to the planning, the police showing up, to the final confrontation. I spoke very calmly, as if narrating someone else's story. But when my parents heard it, their hearts sank. Especially when I mentioned the part where Tram Mac strangled Lam Uyen, my mother's hand tightened. By the time I finished, the whole living room fell silent. Dad pondered for a long time before sighing deeply, then said:
“Divorce is right.”
Just four short words, but the corners of my eyes turned red. Over the past five years, all my sadness, patience, and resentment have found relief in those four words. Mom held my hand tightly, tears falling:
"My poor daughter, you're suffering so much. It's all because of your blindness. Why did you let me marry that ungrateful guy at that time?"
“Mom, it's not our fault.” I shook my head, "It's because I chose the wrong person, because I looked at the wrong person."
Dad stood up, poured me a cup of hot water, and brought it in front of me.
"Don't think too much, everything is over. If you're okay, it's good, you can earn money back, but if your house is destroyed, you'll have nothing left."
He looked at me, his eyes determined:
"That's five hundred thousand, don't worry. I'm not at the end of my rope yet. Even if I sell the house, I won't let you bear that debt."
“Dad,” I looked at him, “I have already resolved the money issue.”
“Resolved?” Both parents were shocked.
"Yes." I nodded. "I signed a divorce petition with Tram Mac. All debts in his name are borne by him. In exchange, I give up the right to pursue other crimes."
“Is he willing to sign?” My father was skeptical. “How easy is it for someone like him to let you go?”
“He will sign.” I smiled, "Because he has no choice."
“Or sign the application, shoulder the debt yourself, and have the opportunity to get out of prison early for a minor crime.
Or if you don't sign, I will sue each crime one by one: adultery, property transfer, fraud, and failed kidnapping and blackmail... Crime on crime, prepare to live in prison this life."
“He's smart, he knows which one to choose.”
Dad looked at me, his eyes full of surprise and scrutiny, as if he realized for the first time who his daughter was.
“Thanh Thanh, I…” He was about to say something, but choked on his words.
“Dad, mom.” I put down the glass of water and looked straight at them. "Sorry, I've made you two worry these past five years."
“Actually, I don't know a lot of things, I'm just waiting for an opportunity.”
"From two years ago, Tram Mac began to change. He often came home late, saying he was going to receive guests. He started buying his children expensive gifts, saying it was to make up for it.
He changed the phone password phone, even if you tell your child the new password, most applications have their own code set.”
“I was suspicious, and secretly checked. I discovered shady messages between him and Lam Uyen, discovered the movie tickets the two of them used to go with, and a transfer of fifty thousand."
“At that time, I thought I would expose everything and thought about divorce. But I can't.”
“Because at that time, all of our family's assets were tied to him. He opened the company, but the initial capital was his own.
The house and car are in the child's name, but most of the loans go through his account. If there is a dispute at that time, going to court, it will be a mess, and you may not be able to gain an advantage."
“More importantly, I discovered that he was secretly transferring assets and gutting the company.
I know, he is preparing to retreat. If I exposed him at that time, he would only be quicker, grab everything and leave, leaving me a pile of ruins."
“So, I can only be patient. Pretending not to know anything, continuing to play the role of a gentle and responsible wife.
On one hand, I quietly collected evidence of his adultery and transferred assets. On the other hand, you start preparing yourself.” I looked at my parents' stunned faces, then continued:
“I told him to transfer the car's title to me, using the reason that I wanted to change the car's license plate according to feng shui.
I told him to transfer all the savings in the house to me, using the excuse that I knew a very good financial expert with extremely high profits. I told him to give me his salary card to keep, saying that a man with too much money on his person can easily spoil it."
“He all agreed. Because in his eyes, I'm just a housewife who doesn't understand anything other than spending money and investing. He thinks that leaving money with you is safer than keeping it with him, making it easier for you to be in the dark.”
“He thought he was on the fifth floor, but he didn't know you were already waiting in the stratosphere.”
As soon as I finished speaking, the living room immediately fell dead silent. My parents looked at me, their eyes not only surprised, but also a bit strange. Perhaps they never thought that their obedient and somewhat weak daughter from a young age could hide such deep intentions and such fierceness. But so what? If gentleness and patience cannot be exchanged for respect, then I would rather be a thorny bad guy.
