Chapter 9 — Queen of the Zombie Picky Eaters

The cursing in the crowd became even louder. An old woman threw rotten vegetable leaves on my dress.

“Monster, go away!”

Khuong Le rushed down to block in front of me, but I stopped him. I picked up the vegetable leaves to look at them.

“It's still quite fresh, what a waste.”

The old woman was stunned. A man shouted:

"It's useless to pretend to be pitiful! My son was bitten to death by a zombie!"

I said:

"The child who bit your son is outside the city, not in this car. If you want revenge, I can take you to find him."

The man couldn't say anything. Tan Man held a loudspeaker.

"Luc Hanh illegally detained infected people, the evidence is clear. Today we entered the city to save twenty-three people living underground."

The guard captain smiled coldly.

“Are infected people also counted as living people?”

Captain Trieu's son got out of the car.

"I was infected once. Khuong Dao saved me. Tell me, am I counted as a living person?"

The guard captain choked up his words. Someone in the crowd recognized him.

"Isn't that the child of the Trieu family?"

The teenager rolled up his sleeves, revealing a faded black spot.

"Everyone is afraid of her because no one has ever told everyone the truth. Today she goes into the city to save people, whoever stops her is helping Luc Hanh to suppress her anger."

The guard captain raised his gun. In the next second, a knocking sound was heard inside the city gate. One sound after another. Someone underground is screaming.

“Open the door.”

It's colder underground than I thought. Twenty-three conscious infected people were locked in glass rooms. Some people still know how to talk. Some people just know how to knock on the wall. Seeing me, their reactions were different. An uncle selling vegetables recognized me.

“You're the girl in room number three.”

I asked:

“Was I famous before?”

“Every day she criticizes the person giving her blood for being too low.”

Very good. People may lose their memory, but the principles will not change. Tan Man ordered someone to open the door. The guard captain disagreed.

“Without Chief Judge Luc's signature, no one can open it.”

Tham Tan escorted Luc Hanh to the front door.

“Make him sign.”

There was no panic on Luc Hanh's face.

“Open the door, they lost control, many people died in the main city, are you responsible?”

Tan Man said:

“I am responsible.”

Luc Hanh laughed.

“You can't handle it.”

In the glass room, a boy placed his hand on the glass.

“Sister, I want to go out.”

Khuong Le burst into tears. She stood in front of the glass room.

“Open the door.”

The guard captain said:

“No way.”

Khuong Le turned to look at him.

"I used to live in there. Every day I had blood drawn and injections. I was so hungry that I wanted to eat my hand. You said you couldn't, because you were standing outside the door."

The guard captain turned away. I walked in front of Luc Hanh.

“If you don't open it, I'll open it.”

Luc Hanh said:

“How dare you?”

I punched and broke the control box. The sound of sirens echoed underground. All glass doors are unlocked at the same time. The guard captain shouted:

“Prepare to shoot!”

The door is open. Twenty-three infected people did not rush out and bite people. They stood at the door, not daring to step out. The vegetable seller asked:

“Once we get out, will we get locked up again?”

No one answered. I said:

“Whoever dares to lock you up, I will bite that person.”

The boy was the first to run out and hug Khuong Le. Khuong Le hugged the boy, crying without a sound. The guard captain slowly lowered his gun. Luc Hanh's face finally became unsightly. Tan Man publicly declared:

“All infected people underground will be transferred for treatment. Luc Hanh, Co Nghien, and Trieu Truong Minh will be brought to trial."

Luc Hanh suddenly laughed loudly.

“Do you think this is over?”

He looked at me.

“Khuong Dao, the last of the reagents were put into the water reservoir a long time ago.”

Tan Man's face changed. The water in the lake supplies the entire city. In front of the reservoir gate, Co Nghien was pulled down from the car. The wound on his leg had not yet healed, so he groaned when he took a step. I criticized him for being noisy and stuffed the plasma bag into his mouth. He spat it out.

“Difficult to drink.”

I said:

“Finally, I can speak a sentence in human language.”

Luc Hanh was escorted behind, his expression obnoxiously calm. The reservoir management staff was tied up in the duty room, his mouth stuffed with a rag. Tham Tan untied him. The manager immediately shouted:

“Three people entered the water filtration room, carrying a silver bucket.”

Tan Man asked:

“How long has it been?”

“Ten minutes.”

Tham Tan led the team in. In the water filtration room, three main castle soldiers were pouring reagents into the pipes. Khuong Le rushed forward and knocked someone down. I grabbed the second person and pressed his hand into the water tank.

“Do you like more seasoning?”

He screamed miserably:

"It's Luc Hanh's order!"

The third person intends to press the master valve. Captain Trieu's son opened fire, hitting him in the leg. The teenager's hands shook violently, but he did not retreat.

“Don't move.”

Tham Tan closed the valve. Professor Lam tests water samples.

“Still not flowing into the main city.”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when Co Nghien suddenly burst into laughter.

“Not this place.”

I looked at him. He gritted his teeth and laughed until tears flowed from his eyes.

“How can Luc Hanh put real things here? This place is for you to come and save.”

Luc Hanh finally spoke.

“Main city hospital.”

Tan Man rushed forward and grabbed his collar.

“What did you do to the hospital?”

Luc Hanh said:

“Vaccine.”

Professor Lam's face was terrifyingly white. Today the city officially distributes vaccines to all children. I turned around and ran out. Tham Tan followed. When the car arrived at the hospital, the square was filled with children lining up. The nurse raised the needle, intending to inject it into a boy's arm. I rushed forward, biting off the tip of the needle. The nurse shouted. The crowd immediately became chaotic. I pulled out the tip of the needle.

“This cannot be injected.”

A mother holds her child tightly in her arms.

“On what basis do you say you can't get vaccinated?”

Luc Hanh was escorted out of the car and suddenly shouted:

“Because she wants to turn your children into her own kind!”

All the parents turned to look at me. The needle tray is still in the nurse's hand. The children cried loudly. Tham Tan held up the test report.

“In the vaccine there are reagents that cause infection.”

Luc Hanh smiled and asked:

“Who believes?”

No one believes it. Or more accurately, they didn't dare believe it. Believing in that means admitting that they almost pushed their children to hell just now. A father rushed to push me.

“Go away! My daughter waited in line for three days to get vaccinated!”

I was pushed back one step. Tham Tan held the man's hand. That person shouted:

“People of the base Why do you meddle in the city's affairs?"

Tan Man ran over carrying the main city seal.

“Based on me being a temporary judge.”

Luc Hanh said:

“Tan Man, the decision to appoint you has not been approved yet.”

“By the time you were arrested, it had already been approved.”
