Chapter 21
Chapter 21 — Recruitment Spots Stolen
17The woman on the screen is named Lam Lam. She is the Chairwoman of Thinh Hoa's Audit Committee, and is also one of the group's first members of the Board of Directors. Before, I had only seen her through public documents. She rarely appears in business activities. But everyone knows that in her hands is the toughest measure of fairness of the entire corporation. The Chairman looked at the screen, the stiff expression on his face only fleeting in the blink of an eye. Very quickly after that, he regained his composure.
"Colonel Lam, I'm afraid you should first verify the origin of these documents."
"There are currently people holding anonymous documents to cause chaos in the meeting room."
Lam Lam did not let him lead the story. She only asked one question:
"What I want to know is, why is my signature on that document?"
The Chairman replied in a low voice:
"I haven't seen the original yet."
The Head of the Legal Department immediately projected the document on the screen. On the last page of the Recruitment Replacement Explanation, in addition to the signature of the President's Office, there is also an additional section Confirming independent supervision. The signature there is Lam Lam's. It's just that just now, everyone was focused on the content of replacing the selection and Ha Minh Xuyen's signature, so no one paid attention to this line. Lam Lam looked intently at the screen. Her face cooled little by little.
"This is not my signature."
Nham Canh Hoa immediately spoke:
"Colonel Lam, electronic documents from seven years ago are likely to have errors when scanned."
Lam Lam raised her eyes to look at him.
"Nam Canh Hoa, you better think carefully before speaking."
Nham Canh Hoa pursed his lips tightly. Lam Lam continued:
"Seven years ago, I was indeed involved in supervising the Young Talent Program."
"But what I signed was just the final admission list."
"I have never seen any explanation for replacement positions."
"It's even more unacceptable to agree to use the so-called 'moral hazard' to deal with a candidate who has no evidence."
My fingertips clenched slightly. That statement was like a testimony that came seven years late. Not enough to make up for it all. But at least it proves that that stain was never true. The Chairman's face finally darkened.
"Colonel Lam, just looking at the screen to determine if the signature is real or fake is too imprudent."
Lam Lam coldly replied:
"So I asked the audit team to come to this floor immediately."
"All those involved stay where they are."
"All electronic devices and paper documents were immediately sealed under the supervision of three parties."
"No one is allowed to leave without consent. Violators will be considered as obstructing the investigation."
Nham Canh Hoa's face immediately changed. Luc Giai Di also reflexively looked towards the door. Even Phuong Man couldn't sit still. Suddenly she spoke:
"Colonel Lam, I am ready to cooperate."
"What happened seven years ago and this recruitment round, I just followed the instructions of my superiors."
"I'll tell you everything I know."
Nham Canh Hoa immediately turned around.
"Phuong Man, don't slander others."
Phuong Man burst out laughing. That smile was no longer as pleasing as before. Only the resentment of a person who has been pushed to the limit remains.
"Nam Canh Hoa, now you know you are afraid of me Seriously?"
"When you told me to find a way to eliminate candidates, why weren't you scared?"
"When you told me to label women over thirty-five years old as lacking stability, why weren't you scared?"
"When you guys forced me to change my assessment to unsatisfactory English, why weren't you scared?"
She spoke faster and faster. Every sentence seemed to be gritted out from between my teeth.
"Even Khuong An Ninh's 'moral risk' assessment seven years ago was also what you taught me how to report."
"You said this person's talk shouldn't leave too many traces."
"Email only."
"Don't call to explain."
"If she asks, just say that's the conclusion of the board's comprehensive assessment."
Nham Canh Hoa's face turned pale.
"Do you have proof?"
Phuong Man smiled coldly.
"Not before."
"But from the moment you pushed me out as a substitute, I knew one day it would be my turn."
She turned to the Chief Inspector.
"In my personal mailbox there is a backup from seven years ago."
"Not the whole document."
"But there is a sample of the notification content that Nham Canh Hoa sent me."
The entire meeting room immediately stirred. Nham Canh Hoa's face finally turned pale. He was just about to speak when the Chairman suddenly spoke:
"Phuong Man."
His voice was very light. But it made Phuong Man's whole body tremble.
"You should think carefully."
"There are responsibilities that cannot be brushed away with just a few words."
Phuong Man looked at him. There was still fear in her eyes. But in the next second, she suddenly burst out laughing.
"President, of course I can't brush it off."
"That's why I have to say it."
"People like you..."
"The best thing is to make the person below take the blame for you."
"Seven years ago I carried one."
"I almost had to bear the burden again today."
"This time..."
"I don't want to carry the burden anymore."
