Chapter 6
Chapter 6 — Recruitment Spots Stolen
Just finished speaking. Outside the door of the meeting room, urgent footsteps were heard again. A man wearing a gray suit stopped in front of the door. He glanced at me, then turned to Ha Minh Xuyen.
"General Manager Ha, the Chairman has already reached this floor."
The president arrived faster than everyone imagined. When the elevator door opened, everyone in the hallway automatically moved aside to create a path. He is about sixty years old, his hair is neatly combed, and he holds a dark cane in his hand. Not because traveling is difficult. It's like a habit of showing majesty. Behind him is the Head of the Board of Directors Office and two middle managers that I have never met. As soon as she saw the Chairman, Phuong Man's eye sockets immediately turned red.
"Chairperson."
Her voice was choked, as if she had just suffered a great injustice. The president didn't look at her right away. His eyes first stopped on Ha Minh Xuyen.
"Minh Xuyen."
"It was just a job interview, why did it turn into this?"
His voice was gentle. But hidden in that peacefulness is invisible pressure. Ha Minh Xuyen signaled to bring the documents over.
"This isn't just an interview."
"It's that the whole recruitment process has been manipulated for a long time."
The Chairman did not raise his hand to accept. The Head of the Board of Directors Office stepped forward and took the file on his behalf. He flipped through two pages, frowning slightly.
"These copies are of unknown origin."
"Using anonymous documents to deal with corporate officials... I'm afraid that's not okay."
I raised my head to look at him. He also looked back at me. That look only passed for a moment. But the inner examination is very clear. At this moment, the Chairman turned his eyes to me.
"Are you Khuong An Ninh?"
"I've heard your name before."
"Previously in overseas projects, she helped Thinh Hoa solve problems many times."
I didn't reply. He smiled.
"Your ability is really not bad."
"But as an outside consultant, you should still work in moderation."
Ha Minh Xuyen spoke up.
"She's not an outside consultant."
The Chairman turned to look at him. The atmosphere in the meeting room became even heavier. Ha Minh Xuyen says:
"I recently appointed her in charge of reforming the entire recruitment system."
The smile on the Chairman's face faded.
"Such a big thing... doesn't it need to go through the Board of Directors?"
"This is only a temporary thematic reshuffle, not related to personnel appointment."
"I have the right to decide."
The Chairman stared at him.
"You have the right."
"But you also have to consider the impact."
"Phuong Man has worked at the group for seven years."
"You can't just treat people like criminals because of the way they talk in an interview."
As if she had her back, Phuong Man immediately lowered her voice.
"President, I'm really just seriously screening candidates."
I looked at her. This tone... Completely different from the overbearing tone when insulting me just now. There are people... What they are best at is not necessarily their job. It's a change of face. I picked up the tape recorder.
"Do you want to hear the entire recording, Chairman?"
The Head of the Board of Directors Office immediately frowned.
"Arbitrarily recording without permission is inherently inappropriate behavior."
I looked straight at him.
"The interview area is there publicly announce that the entire process is audio and video recorded by default."
"This is Thinh Hoa's own regulations."
He was silenced by me and his face immediately became ugly. The Chairman gently waved his hand.
"No need to listen."
"I believe that during the interview process there may have been inappropriate points."
"If you need to criticize, then criticize."
"If training is needed, train."
"But raising the matter to recruitment fraud, even an information security risk..."
"That hat is too heavy."
He finally opened the file. The finger stopped on the name Luc Giai Di.
"This girl I know."
"The Office of the Board of Directors recommended her because of her good overall capabilities."
"Young people should be given opportunities."
I calmly asked:
"Give her a chance..."
"So what will candidates who participate in public recruitment receive?"
The Chairman looked at me.
"Advisor Khuong."
"This statement of yours carries personal emotions."
"Recruitment is not an exam."
"The company has every right to consider the cost of building trust."
I nodded.
"But the company can't just openly recruit..."
"Just graded the candidates in advance."
"We can't let candidates who don't know have to take time off from work come all the way here and prepare all the documents..."
"And then I just end up sitting here and being humiliated."
"It's even more impossible to put an unsuitable person in a core position."
The Chairman's face slightly darkened.
"You said she wasn't suitable..."
"Is there any proof?"
I turned Luc Giai Di's profile to the last page.
"In the international project experience section, she wrote that she had participated in a customer appraisal project in Berlin."
"The time was from May to August last year."
"But right around that time..."
"She once publicly posted an article on social networks."
"In that post, she clearly stated that she was in the country participating in a closed training course."
"For three straight months there was no record of any exit."
The expression of the Head of the Board of Directors Office immediately changed.
