Chapter 14
Chapter 14 — Wedding Day Without Bride
"You are pregnant with Pho Tinh Lan's child, not with my death immunity card."
Pho's mother ran from behind, breathing heavily:
"Khuong Van, what do you want? The painting has been found, Tri Ha is also shocked. Tomorrow is the wedding, don't throw away the Pho family's dignity like that."
Khuong Van looked at her:
“The reputation of the Pho family was thrown away by me?”
Pho's mother was about to continue scolding her when police sirens sounded outside. Do Minh Vien was the first to panic and turned around to run out the back door. The Pho family's cousin has been standing guard there for a long time, holding up her phone and shouting loudly: "I'm recording a video, whoever runs will be startled!" Do Minh Vien stopped and glared angrily at the girl. The police walked in, Mr. Chau handed over all the receipts, photos of the fake painting and the antique shop's surveillance camera. Hua Tri Ha cried and said: "I was deceived by Do Minh Vien." Do Minh Vien immediately bit back: "She took the initiative to find me, saying that Khuong Van was blind, as long as she finished the wedding and sold the real painting to buyers in other provinces, no one would know."
“You lie!”
“You have chat history on your phone.”
Hua Tri Ha was startled and hugged the phone tightly. The police looked at her:
“Please cooperate.”
Pho Thinh Lan closed her eyes, reached out, grabbed her phone and handed it over. Hua Tri Ha looked at him with unbelievable eyes:
“You hand me over?”
Pho Thinh Lan's voice was hoarse:
“Tri Ha, stop messing around.”
Khuong Van heard this sentence and laughed softly. It turned out that when it was Hua Tri Ha's turn, he could only say "stop messing around". Before being taken away, Hua Tri Ha suddenly turned around:
"Khuong Van, don't be complacent. What you saw, you also hid from everyone. You lied to Pho Thinh Lan for three years, he will not forgive you."
Khuong Van didn't even look at her:
“I don't need his forgiveness.”
Pho Thinh Lan raised her head suddenly. The police car took Do Minh Vien and Hua Tri Ha away. The antique shop became quiet again, with only the sound of the wind blowing the curtains. Pho's mother frantically tried to chase after her, but was stopped by her cousin:
“Miss, the police solved the case, it's useless for you to go.”
Pho's mother raised her hand to strike. The cousin craned her neck:
"You should hit me, anyway, if you lose face today, you won't miss this slap from me."
Pho's mother was so angry that she was shaking. Khuong Van told old Chau to take the painting to Khuong's old house. Pho Thinh Lan stood in front of her:
"Van Van, the wedding tomorrow..."
Khuong Van asked: "Do you still want to organize it?"
“I want to make it up to you.” He looked into her eyes, his tone almost pleading, "I will solve the matter between you and Tri Ha. I will also give you a fair word about the painting. The wedding will proceed as usual, I will publicly apologize to you in front of everyone."
Khuong Van took out a neatly folded wedding invitation from her bag. The name printed in gold foil on the wedding invitation was chosen by him himself. She tore it in half right in front of him.
“Pho Thinh Lan, there will be no wedding tomorrow.”
Pho's mother screamed:
“Khuong Van, do you dare to abandon the engagement?”
Khuong Van threw the torn wedding invitation into the trash can in front of the door:
“Not from kissing.”
She looked at Pho Thinh Lan:
“It's that I don't need you anymore.”
* When morning came, the Pho family still tried to decorate the hotel as a wedding venue. Pho's mother absolutely refused canceled the party, she called all her relatives, gritted her teeth and insisted that what happened last night was just a misunderstanding, the wedding would still take place as before. When Khuong Van arrived at the hotel, there was a red carpet in front of the door, and the giant wedding photo was still hanging there. In the photo, she is wearing sunglasses, nestled next to Pho Thinh Lan, looking like a pre-arranged prop. Aunt Trieu looked nauseous:
“The skin on these people's faces was covered up by the city wall?”
Khuong Van said: "Come inside." The hall was filled with guests.
