Chapter 8
Chapter 8 — Wedding Day Without Bride
When Pho Thinh Lan saw the content, his face became extremely ugly:
“Where did you get it from?”
“The Pho family's study room.”
Hua Tri Ha walked out from the end of the hallway, accompanied by a doctor. When she saw Khuong Van, she was startled at first and immediately leaned against the wall:
“Thich Lan, why did she come here?”
Khuong Van looked at the doctor:
“What do you mean by compatibility test?”
The doctor pushed the glasses frame:
“Patient secrets, I can't tell.”
Khuong Van said: "I am the second person whose name is on this paper." The doctor glanced at Pho Thinh Lan. Pho Thinh Lan pulled Khuong Van aside:
“It's not what you think.”
Khuong Van shook his hand away:
“So what is it like?”
Tears fell from Hua Tri Ha's eyes:
"Miss Khuong, don't blame Tinh Lan. It's because my health is not good. The doctor said that if I want to give birth to a baby safely, I need to prepare a suitable blood source other than relatives. Your blood and mine are coincidentally the same."
Khuong Van asked: "It's ready, so why did it say hospitalization after the wedding?" Pho Thinh Lan's voice was dry:
“Just doing a test.”
“Tests that require scheduling surgery?”
Hua Tri Ha cried even louder:
"I won't do it anymore, okay? My child and I will die together, so it won't be awkward for both of us."
Deputy Thinh Lan immediately turned to Khuong Van:
“Don't force her anymore.”
Khuong Van almost burst out laughing:
“I forced her?”
People in the hallway started looking back. Hua Tri Ha hugged her stomach and leaned on Pho Thinh Lan's lap:
"Thin Lan, you hurt so much, does it mean my baby doesn't need you anymore?"
Deputy Thinh Lan picked her up and shouted to the doctor: "Quickly take a look at her!" Khuong Van stood still, the paper she squeezed until it wrinkled. The nurse said in a low voice: "Miss Khuong, do you want to sit down and rest for a while?" Khuong Van looked at the nameplate on the nurse's chest:
“Thank you.”
The nurse was stunned by that look. That was not the out-of-focus eyes of a blind person as rumored. Pho Thinh Lan walked out of the clinic, anger on her face:
"Are you satisfied? Something almost happened to Tri Ha."
Khuong Van asked: "Is the baby okay?"
"You insist on hearing the word 'it's okay' to be willing, right?"
Khuong Van waved her hand and slapped the piece of paper on his chest:
“Pho Thinh Lan, do you want my blood, or do you want to take away my other things?”
Deputy Thinh Lan was silent. This silence is clearer than any answer. Khuong Van took a step back:
“You haven't even opened your mouth to ask me a question.”
Pho Thinh Lan's voice lowered:
“If I say it first, will you agree?”
Khuong Van looked at him:
“So you plan to trick me into going to the hospital after the wedding is over?”
“The doctor said the risk is not great.”
“What risks?”
Deputy Thinh Lan turned away. Hua Tri Ha walked out of the clinic, her face pale:
"Thin Lan, stop talking. Miss Khuong will not volunteer to save you."
Khuong Van turned and walked away. Pho Thinh Lan chased after her and grabbed her wrist:
"Khuong Van, in Tri Ha's belly is my child. Haven't you always said you love me? Please help me once."
Khuong Van paused:
“I sold paintings to save you, not as helping you.”
Pho Thinh Lan's hand loosened slightly:
“I didn't mean that.”
“I took the fire for you, it doesn't count as helping you.”
“Van Van.”
“My eyes have been damaged for three years, but you said you would take care of me for the rest of your life. Now you want me to go to the surgery table for your child's sake."
Pho Thinh Lan's face lost its color little by little. Hua Tri Ha stood behind him and gently said: "Miss Khuong, don't say it so seriously. It's not about taking your life." Khuong Van turned his head and looked straight at her:
“If it's really not serious, why don't you find someone else?”
Hua Tri Ha was speechless. Pho Thinh Lan stood in front of her:
“That's enough.”
Khuong Van withdrew his hand:
