Chapter 22
Chapter 22 — Wedding Day Without Bride
"Your mistake is that you clearly know that I have to endure pain and suffering but still force you to endure. Your mistake is that you take my love for granted. Your mistake is that you keep using me to fill in the gaps of the Pho family over and over again."
His voice trembled:
“I don't expect your forgiveness.”
Khuong Van looked at his bent back:
“Then don't expect it.”
She turned to the host:
“Go ahead.”
The sound of applause rang out again. Pho Thinh Lan slowly straightened her back, the last bit of luck in her eyes shattered cleanly. * The Pho family collapsed faster than anyone could imagine. After the gallery was sealed, all contracts signed in the name of the Khuong family were revoked. Pho's mother ran everywhere to beg, people who used to call her Mrs. Pho now don't even bother to pour a cup of tea for her. Pho Thinh Lan sold the car and house in her name, paying off the first debt to Khuong Van. When he brought the declaration to the old house, Khuong Van was repairing her mother's picture frame.
“This is 3.8 million yuan in principal and a portion of interest.” Pho Thinh Lan placed the stack of documents on the table, "I will continue to pay the rest."
Aunt Trieu sat and bit melon seeds next to her:
"This sentence sounds really funny. Debt must be paid, acting like you're making merit is no good."
Deputy Thinh Lan did not object. Khuong Van glanced through the manifest:
“Where are the gallery shares?”
Pho Thinh Lan replied: "I am willing to transfer it to you."
“I don't need that mess.”
His face was pale white. Khuong Van folded the documents:
"Sell it, bring the money back here. As for the conflict between you and the Pho family, you can resolve it yourself."
Deputy Thinh Lan nodded. He looked at the pomegranate tree in the yard, lowered his voice and said: "In the past, every time I came here, you always made me tea." Khuong Van did not answer. Aunt Trieu immediately spoke up: "Now there is only boiled and cooled water. If you want to drink, pour it yourself. After drinking, remember to wash it and put it back in the same place." Pho Thinh Lan smiled bitterly. There was an argument outside the door. Pho's mother rushed in, her hair disheveled, her hand clutching a contract.
"Khuong Van, are you satisfied? Tinh Lan is about to sell the gallery, everything her father left behind is gone!"
Deputy Thinh Lan frowned:
“Mom, why did you come here?”
Pho's mother rushed to beat him:
"This useless guy! For the sake of a woman, he intends to sell out the entire Pho family's ancestral business."
Deputy Thinh Lan held her mother's hand:
"The Pho family's fortune has long since disappeared. The gallery was opened with Khuong Van's money."
Pho's mother was stunned, then immediately cried:
"You've been bewitched by that vixen! It's now climbed up to the Academy of Fine Arts, looks down on you, and wants to trample you to death."
Khuong Van put down the picture frame:
“Deputy Auntie, I remind you that every word you say today is being recorded by the camera outside the gate.”
Pho's mother reflexively looked out the gate. Aunt Trieu raised her hand and pointed:
“Smile a little, take a good picture.”
Pho's mother was so angry that her face turned purple. She suddenly pulled out a small bottle from her pocket:
“Khuong Van, you don't let me live, I won't leave you alone!”
Deputy Thinh Lan reacted extremely quickly, violently flicking the bottle in her hand. The foul-smelling liquid splashed onto the green stone floor, emitting sizzling white smoke. Aunt Trieu jumped up in fear:
“Are you crazy? This is like throwing acid to destroy the solution there!"
Khuong Van took a step back, her eyes completely cold. Pho Thinh Lan was also stunned:
“Mom, did you bring this here?”
Pho's mother looked at the liquid on the ground, as if suddenly awakened, and as if she had gone completely crazy:
“I just wanted to scare it a little.”
Aunt Trieu called the police:
“You go to the ward and explain to the police.”
Pho's mother rushed forward to hug Pho Thinh Lan:
“Thin Lan, save mom! I do everything for you."
Pho Thinh Lan looked at her and slowly let go:
