Chapter 15 — Wedding Day Without Bride

Pho Thinh Lan stood on stage wearing a groom's suit, staying up all night, his collar wrinkled. Pho's mother saw Khuong Van walking in wearing a long black dress, her face immediately darkened:

“Are you wearing this to get married?”

Khuong Van raised her eyes:

“Who said I came to get married?”

The MC held the microphone and stood blankly on the stage. The guests below were whispering. Hua Tri Ha did not come. Someone had heard about the police arresting someone last night, and their eyes were full of anticipation. Pho Thinh Lan stepped down from the podium:

“Van Van, don't say angry words here.”

Khuong Van looked at the face that had made her feel soft countless times.

“Every word I said today was not an angry word.”

Pho's mother rushed forward and lowered her voice:

"Khuong Van, don't forget that the Pho family has taken care of you for three years. Even if Tinh Lan is wrong, you can't force someone to die."

Aunt Trieu stood in front of Khuong Van:

"Caring for three years? You guys used the money from selling her paintings to make money, living in the house that you mortgaged her old house in exchange for, but you talk like you opened a hospice."

Pho's mother's face changed:

“What nonsense are you talking about?”

Khuong Van took out a bag of documents and gave it to Mr. Chau standing under the stage:

“Read.”

Deputy Thinh Lan slapped his hand to block the file bag:

“Van Van, don't.”

Khuong Van stared at his hand:

“Let go.”

“Let's discuss these things privately.”

“When you guys stole my mother's paintings, there was no private table.”

He stiffened for a few seconds, then slowly let go. Lao Chau opened the file bag:

"Initial start-up capital of the Pho gallery: 3.8 million yuan from the auction proceeds in Khuong Van's name. Payment of old debts of the Pho family: Two of which were transferred from Khuong Van's account. Mortgage of Khuong's old house: Actually used to rotate capital for the Pho gallery."

The row of guest seats seemed to explode.

“Isn't it said that Pho Thinh Lan started a business with nothing?”

“It turned out that he relied on his fiancee's money.”

"And yet you still have sex with a pregnant woman?"

Pho Thinh Lan's face turned pale. Pho's mother frantically said: "It's all her own volition! Is it okay to help each other out if we're in a relationship?" Khuong Van asked: "Voluntarily helping you does not mean voluntarily being deceived by you." Pho's mother pointed at her face:

"You can see but still pretend to be blind, you're not pure at all!"

Khuong Van nodded:

"What I can see is that I have just recovered after a follow-up examination last month. The doctor advised me to slowly adapt to strong light. I didn't make it public because I wanted to give Pho Thinh Lan a surprise on the wedding day."

She looked up at the wedding photo on the radio.

“As a result, the surprise hit me first.”

Under the stage, someone sighed softly. Pho Thinh Lan took a step forward:

"Van Van, I didn't know you had recovered. If I knew..."

Khuong Van interrupted him:

"If you knew, you wouldn't let me find out about Hua Tri Ha, wouldn't let me see the marriage certificate, wouldn't let her act in front of me."

Pho Thinh Lan choked and couldn't say a word. The side door of the hotel was suddenly pushed open. Hua Tri Ha's mother rushed in, her hair disheveled, and rushed straight towards Pho Thinh Lan:

“Mr. It's your blood!”

Pho's mother's face turned gray:

“What did you come here to cause trouble?”

Hua's mother shouted: "What promise did you Pho family make last night?" Said that as long as Tri Ha was pregnant, he would let her walk through the door. Now that something has happened, do you want to make him bear it alone?" The whole school was silent. Pho's mother's lips trembled:

“Don't spit blood on yourself.”

Hua's mother took out a stack of papers from her pocket:
