Chapter 35
Chapter 35 — After Doctor Diep Disappeared
The security guard glanced at him from head to toe, his eyes lingering for two seconds on his bloody hospital gown and his pale, sickly gray face.
"If you don't have an appointment, you can't come in. Please stay out of the way."
“I said I am Co Han Chau, this building used to belong to me.”
The guard's expression changed, from industrial politeness to obvious impatience. Another security guard took down the radio from his waist.
"There is a mentally unstable person at the door, do you need to call someone?"
Co Han Chau took a step forward, his shoulder bumping into the glass of the revolving door.
“I just need to come in, let me in.”
The electric baton stabbed him directly in the waist. Co Han Chau's body took two steps back because of the sharp pain caused by the electric current, her heel missed the step, and her whole body fell into the flower bed. His back hit the cement edge, the wound in his abdomen was so shocking that his face darkened.
“Go now, if you don't go I'll call the police now.”
The security guard raised the electric baton to his face level. Co Han Chau grabbed the edge of the flower bed and stood up, not moving forward anymore. He retreated to the other side of the road, standing under the sycamore tree. It started to rain. A black Maybach turned the corner, turn signal flashing, and turned into the building's parking garage entrance. Co Han Chau started running. The wound in his abdomen oozed blood with each footstep. He could feel the warm liquid flowing along his waist and seeping into the waistband of his pants. He ignores it. He rushed toward the slope of the tunnel entrance, the soles of his shoes wobbling on the slippery surface. The car drove in front of the barrier, after swiping the card, the barrier lifted up. Co Han Chau rushed in. His whole body rushed towards the hood of the car, his hands banging loudly on the body of the car.
“Nam Sanh.”
He shouted, his voice half drowned out by the sound of the rain and the sound of the engine.
“Diep Nam Sanh.”
Two bodyguards wearing black combat gear rushed out from the side door. A sweeping kick to his leg. Co Han Chau's legs softened and he knelt to the ground. The second kick hit him directly in the shoulder, sending him rolling across the cement floor. One side of his face hit the ground, and the corner of his mouth immediately tasted the stench of blood. The car window rolled down half an inch. Co Han Chau lay flat on the ground, desperately raising his head to look into that gap. He only saw a segment of a finger, white, resting loosely on the armrest, nails neatly trimmed. Then there was her voice.
“Deal with it, don't dirty the parking lot.”
Calmly, like telling a janitor to clean up a mess. The car window rolls up. He was still screaming.
“Nam Sanh…”
The voice was hoarse, the scream came out choked and choked. No one responded to him. There was only the sound of rain hitting the water surface. Three days later, at the police station. Co Han Chau sat in the interrogation room, opposite two criminal police officers. He revealed everything about Tham Moc Ngung. How she instigated people to trample Diep Nam Sanh's right hand, how she said provocative words in front of Diep's mother, forcing her to have a stroke, and how she made Co Tu Mac step away from her biological mother step by step. The police pushed the statement record over for him to sign, and he signed. After signing, the young police officer pushed another file.
"Mr. Co, please look at this."
It's a statement by Tham Moc Ngung. She claimed that the incident of trampling Diep Nam Sanh's right hand that year was instigated by Co Han Chau. He is the one behind the orders. Co Han Chau finished reading those two pieces of paper and placed the documents back on the table.
“She's right.”
The two policemen looked at each other.
"Mr. Co, our investigation shows that this was a personal act of Tham Moc Ngung, he was not present at the scene at that time."
“Fix me.”
