In the days after the meeting to collect opinions, Doan and a group of neighbors immediately began collecting documents, photos, and historical evidence about the cultural value of Hoai Xuan ancient street. Ms. Pham Thi Xuan, although her health is no longer as good as before, still enthusiastically searched through old wooden chests, bringing out a series of valuable documents that she had kept for decades.

"These are photos taken of the street from the first years she opened the shop," Ms. Xuan said, her hands trembling as she flipped through the photo album pages that had yellowed over time. "You see, back then the whole street had only a few houses, but it was already a famous silk trading center throughout the region."

Doan carefully photocopied each photo and each document, building a detailed profile of the street's history of formation and development, from the early days as just a gathering place for silk weaving families, to becoming the famous cultural tourism destination it is today.

"Does your grandmother remember any special stories about the first customers of the shop?" Doan asked, her hand still continuing to take notes.

"Oh, yes," Mrs. Xuan replied, her eyes shining with nostalgia. "She still remembers, the first customer of the shop was a young teacher who ordered ao dai to wear on her first school opening ceremony. She later brought her students to order ao dai for more than twenty years of teaching. Many families in this street have been attached to the shop for three or four generations."

Stories like that, although small, contain a treasure of vivid cultural values that Doan believes, if presented properly, will be enough to convince the authorities of the importance of preserving the street.

Along with collecting documents, Doan also contacted a young lawyer named Nguyen Hai Dang, who has experience in cultural heritage law, through the introduction of a former classmate. The first meeting took place in his small office, where Doan presented details about the street's situation.

"Based on what you describe, I think we have a basis to file a request to recognize this area as a provincial-level architectural and artistic relic," said lawyer Hai Dang, after looking through the initial documents Doan brought with him. "But this process takes time, and there needs to be enough convincing evidence of historical and architectural value, as well as intangible culture such as traditional ao dai tailoring."

"We will try to fully complete everything as soon as possible," Doan pledged, although in her heart she could not help but worry about the tight time before the project could be officially approved.

"I also advise you to seek support from the media," lawyer Hai Dang further suggested. "Public pressure can sometimes have a much greater impact than conventional legal procedures, especially when it comes to cultural heritage conservation."

That advice made Doan come up with a new idea. She remembered an old classmate, now working as a reporter for a local newspaper, who might be willing to help cover the story of the street and the ongoing preservation fight.

In the evening, when Doan was diligently rearranging all the documents he had collected, Quang Duy stopped by the shop, his face carrying an unusually tense expression.

"What's the matter?" Doan asked, immediately realizing the abnormality in his attitude.

"I just discovered some worrying things in the project files," Quang Duy said, his voice low and cautious. "But I need more time to verify before I can tell you more details. I don't want to make baseless accusations."

"Are you in any danger?" Doan asked, her voice filled with sincere concern for his safety.

"I don't think so, at least not yet," Quang Duy replied, trying to reassure her even though he himself wasn't completely sure. "But I need to be careful in how I approach this, so as not to jeopardize my chances of finding out the full truth."

Doan nodded, understanding the necessary caution in this sensitive situation. "I trust you," she said, gently holding his hand in a gesture of encouragement. "And I'm also doing everything I can on my part — collecting historical documents, seeking legal support, and maybe asking for help from the media as well."

"We are fighting on the same front, even though from different positions," Quang Duy said, his eyes filled with appreciation for her determination. "I believe that, if we persevere, truth and justice will ultimately prevail."

Those words, in the cozy space of Vinh Xuan shop in a quiet evening, have tightened the bond between two people who are standing on seemingly opposite sides of the same war, but share a common desire to protect true, sustainable values amid the constant flow of urban development.

The next day, Doan contacted his old classmate, Do Thuy Linh, who is currently working as a cultural and social reporter for a prestigious local newspaper. The meeting took place right at Vinh Xuan shop, where Thuy Linh could see with her own eyes the space and the story she was about to write.

"This is truly a story worth telling," Thuy Linh commented after listening to Doan's presentation, her hand quickly jotting down important details. "It's not just a story of liberation or not, but a story about preserving a traditional profession that is gradually disappearing before the wave of modernization."

"Do you think the article can make any impact?" Doan asked, fragile hope shining in her eyes.

"If written properly, combined with vivid images of handmade ao dai sewing, I believe the article can attract the public's attention, and can even put pressure on the government to review the plan more carefully," Thuy Linh replied, her eyes full of professional determination.

During the afternoon, Thuy Linh interviewed not only Doan, but also Ms. Xuan, Ms. Ngoc Huong, and a few long-time workers of the shop, recording stories and honest emotions about her love for the profession, about the fear of losing a valuable part of cultural heritage.

"I have been doing this job since I was eighteen years old," an older worker shared with Thuy Linh, her voice filled with emotion. "If this shop no longer exists, I don't know what I will do to continue living with the job I have loved all my life."

These honest, emotional stories are the valuable material that Thuy Linh needs to write a moving article that not only stops at presenting events, but touches the hearts of readers, evoking widespread sympathy and support from the community.

"I will try to finish the article this week," Thuy Linh promised before leaving. "And I'll also be reaching out to some of my colleagues at larger newspapers, to see if we can create more widespread attention for this story."

Doan sincerely thanked Thuy Linh. Her heart was filled with new hope when she realized that the fight to protect the Vinh Xuan shop and the entire Hoai Xuan ancient street is gradually receiving support from many different sides - from the united neighbors, from professional legal support, and now, from the power of mass media.

That evening, when telling her grandmother about the interview, Mrs. Xuan could not hide her emotions. "I never thought that the story of a small tailor shop could be of interest to so many people," she said, her voice shaking with emotion.

"That's because my story is not just my family's story, grandma," Doan replied, holding her grandmother's thin hands. "It is the story of an entire generation, a traditional profession that needs to be protected against the changes of the times."

Mrs. Xuan nodded, her eyes looking distantly towards the window, where the old street was gradually sinking into the peaceful darkness of the evening. "I believe you can do it, Doan," she said softly. "You have the steadfastness that she once had at your age, and perhaps, you have more resources than she ever had to protect what you hold dear."

Those words of encouragement from her grandmother, along with today's positive developments, gave Doan a precious source of spiritual strength, allowing her to continue firmly on the challenging path ahead, with the belief that truth and sincere love will eventually find a way to win, no matter how long and arduous the path is.
