Chapter 25 — Directions to Cloud Valley

In the seventh month of pregnancy, an unexpected event occurred when heavy rain that lasted for several consecutive days caused landslides at an important road connecting Ta Chai village with the town, completely cutting off the area's only supply and transportation route.

"This is a serious situation," Dang Khoi said at an emergency meeting hastily convened at the medical station, with the participation of Chua village chief and the medical team. "If there is a serious emergency that requires transfer to the hospital, we will face great difficulties."

"We need to establish at least two alternative routes for each village, which have been clearly surveyed and recorded in advance," Dang Khoi proposed, recording lessons from the recent response. "At the same time, it is necessary to equip additional backup radios and satellite communication devices for areas at high risk of signal loss."

"I think we should also organize periodic training sessions for people on basic natural disaster response skills," Thao Vy commented from home, participating in the meeting by phone.
