Chapter 7
Chapter 7 — Mistakes Cannot Be Compensated
“You said there are documents that need to be signed by Director Luc…”
“I don't say the content.”
“But there are no notes on the file bag.”
"There are dozens of pages inside."
Her face slowly turned white.
"I was so busy at that time, I just flipped to the signing page, thinking you guys had already discussed it."
Luc Hoai Xuyen raised his hand to rub his temple.
“That's enough.”
He took the agreement from my hand and quickly flipped through a few pages.
“You want a divorce?”
“Yes.”
“Because of Aunt On's surgery?”
“That was just a drop in the bucket.”
“The last drop of water?”
His voice lowered.
"Tham Gia Hoa, you were about to get a divorce, ran to my office to ask your colleague to give you an agreement, and didn't even say a word to me. What do you consider this marriage to be?"
I glanced at the signature on the agreement.
“I signed it.”
“I don't know the content.”
“Reading documents before signing is something adults should do.”
Luc Hoai Xuyen slammed the agreement on the table. A few pieces of paper flew away.
“What do you want to do in the end?”
“End this marriage.”
"Your father passed away 5 years ago. For the past 5 years, I've taken care of you, taken care of your mother, I've taken care of all the household expenses. Now just because of one surgery, you're wiping away everything before?"
“What you have done, I acknowledge.”
"So what are you doing?"
I looked at him.
“Luc Hoai Xuyen, in marriage there is no way to atone for sins.”
His jaw muscles were tense.
“I don't agree.”
“The agreement has your signature.”
“Signing while you don't know the details is not considered your true will.”
On Thu Nha stood to one side, her eyes were red.
"Sorry, it's all my fault."
“If only I had looked a little closer, it wouldn't have been so noisy.”
She took a step towards me.
“Sister Gia Hoa, you can be angry with me, but don't make fun of marriage.”
"Director Luc has been constantly taking care of your mother these past few days, doing surgery, going to the room, and having consultations. He's very tired."
I asked her: "Your mother's surgery, is it our marriage?" On Thu Nha bit her lip. Luc Hoai Xuyen stood up, blocking my view.
“Don't take your anger out on her.”
I have heard this saying too many times. When On Thu Nha felt sorry for himself, he told me to sympathize. When Wen Thu Nha was in trouble, he reminded me not to compare. When Wen Thu Nha lost her father, he said there was no one around her. And when I lost my father, he told me to grow up a bit and not blame the medical results on the doctor. I bent down, picked up each scattered agreement and folded it neatly.
“You may not agree to a divorce.”
“I will file a lawsuit.”
Luc Hoai Xuyen stared at me.
“Are you sure we have to take each other to court?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
I stuffed the agreement into my pocket.
“If you really want to know, go back and look at my father's consultation records from the past.”
“I've seen it countless times.”
“Then watch it again.”
I turned and walked out of the office. There were no footsteps behind. Wen Thu Nha mumbled: "Director Luc, go chase after Ms. Gia Hoa." Luc Hoai Xuyen did not answer. When the elevator went down, I suddenly felt nauseous. I haven't eaten much this morning, my stomach is so empty it hurts. I held onto the wall, wanting to wait for the dizziness to pass, but my eyes became increasingly dark. Before I lost consciousness, I heard someone calling for a nurse. When I woke up, I was lying in the emergency monitoring room. The young nurse is adjusting the speed of my infusion.
“Are you awake?”
I moved my fingers.
“What is wrong with me?”
The nurse smiled.
“Low blood sugar, plus not resting well lately.”
She looked at the test form next to the bed.
“There is more good news.”
"You're pregnant."
My hand stopped on the blanket.
“How long has it been?”
“Less than 5 weeks.”
The nurse gave me the test form.
“The index is quite good, but I have a little bleeding, the doctor advised me to lie down and monitor first.”
