I gave Vy the spare key, but made her sign the loan book.

“You don't believe me?”

“Believe. But the process is not based on trust.”

Vy signed, then wrote another line: "The borrower must bring bread."

Khang read it and gave her a box of bread.

Our relationship did not become easy immediately. Vy is used to making decisions alone, I am used to opposing everyone. We argued about how to use the funds, how to publish the data, and who Hanh's mother should stay with.

But after every argument, we returned to our desks.

Ms. Nhu apologized publicly at the council, admitting that she had hidden it from me to protect her family. Hanh's mother did not forgive immediately, but agreed to run a program to support women in flood areas with her.

Quan received a scholarship and continued to research embankment materials. Tuan trains the youth team and no longer hides his records. Duyen opens free insurance classes for residents.

Nam was asked to work in communications for Thien Ha. He refused the title, only signed a contract to provide independent data.

“Aren't you afraid of losing your chance?” I asked.

“I'm afraid of turning into someone who writes strictly according to instructions.”

I get it.

The floating house was completed after two years. On the inauguration day, a group of children learned how to wear life jackets. I guide them, while Vy stands behind and works with the sponsor.

A boy asked:

“Does the president know how to swim?”

Vy replied:

“No. But she knows how to hold on.”

I threw her a buoy.

“Learn from today.”

Vy jumped into the lake to practice. She was clumsy, took a few sips of water, but did not give up.

Hanh's mother stood on the shore and laughed. I have never seen her so relieved.

In the evening, Vy asked me if I wanted to receive a portion of the profits from Thien Ha.

"Are not."

“You can accept it without becoming a rights buyer.”

“I know. But I want my money to come from what I do, not from a father who hid it from me.”

Vy nodded and transferred the profits to the training fund.

I don't stop. Some money only has meaning when it doesn't belong to anyone in particular.
